No Disappointment HereJun 01, 2010
By Joseph Page This is a great Zatoichi stick sword. It is forged so it's not even close to the elite folded swords, however the maker, Hanwei is known for making good quality swords/weapons for lower prices. The sheath is beautiful and the sword itself is just gorgeous. The hamon (not sure if it is just aesthetic or if it is truly made from the clay procedure) but either way it looks amazing. As far as it being functional, I'm not sure about that, I haven't cut with it yet and not sure if I will or not. But either way I highly recommend this for someone looking for a reasonably priced Zatoichi of good quality.

scaryAug 10, 2011
By Michael Roth At first I shook my head at the ginormous 4x5 ft. box this thing came in, but when I realized it would make for good cutting practice my opinion quickly changed.
Set the box upright and 1 clean cut across the width of it cut all the way across. It wasn't smooth like butter, perhaps with a curved blade it would've, but I was nonetheless surprised with the sharpness and power of this sword.
A week later I got to doing something really stupid in my house: trying to cut an envelope in half. Poor control led to me accidentally slamming the blade into the ground, cutting through my carpet, and smacking the concrete underneath. The edged was only slightly nicked however, and held up quite well. I can't say the same for my carpet however.
My only complaint would be that the habaki is not completely flush with the sword handle, leading to a little bit of play, and as a result, a little bit of clicking when using this as a cane.
