5Awesome HeadsetDec 15, 2010
By Stewy
I bought this headset to play COD Black OPS on my Xbox 360. I was not very familiar with Sharkoon but after reading some reviews, I decided to give it a shot. I must say I am amazed at the sound quality in these, it's like you are in the middle of the game. It doesn't adverstise it, but I really can't hear anything else outside when I have these on. I also looked at the Earforce X11, but I even liked the look of these better.
I wore it for a few hours and it didn't even feel like anything was on my head. The cable that it comes with is a long, heavy, sturdy cable, so I dont have to worry about it when I run over it with my chair! With a detachable microphone, simple set up, comfort and great sound quality at a great price, what more do you need?

5Wow, What a Surprise!Feb 23, 2011
By M. N. HANGEN
So I'd read the previous 3 reviews and I decided that I would give sharkoon a try. I looked into turtle beaches similar headset which is the x11 but I really wasn't pleased with a 4 star rating. I don't have a lot of money to spend on a headset. This headset however has surprised me with out a doubt. I've tried this on Battlefield Bad Company 2. I have to say what a great addition this is to any gamers collection. I can't say that it will make you a number 1 player but it will enhance your experience and also help you hear the things you cannot on just standard television sound. The sound is crisp, and bass is great. I don't think anyone could go wrong by purchasing this. I like the look and feel of it. It is light weight.. Looks pretty cool.. Overall I am surprised how much greater my gaming experience was. My husband tried it because I insisted it sounded just like you were on the battlefield. His remarks were "how much was this? I want one. Make it happen.." So there are actually TWO satisfied gamers here. I will most likely be purchasing another one soon for my husband. Take a chance on this you won't regret it!

5Don't use TV speakers for Xbox, use these!Nov 15, 2011
By Nathan Brantley
Compared to other headsets...absolutley no idea.
Compared to using sound coming from the TV at night when kids are sleeping. EPIC!!!

I bought these for my brother for his birthday. He played the Battlefield 3 beta using TV sound. Then he got these the day we got BF3 on xbox and he was completely and utterly captivated by the sound.
My point is, these are a sickly fantastic option compared to hearing through crummy TV speakers.

I compared this set (SX) to my set (SR) and the SX didn't have the USB hiss or the voice chat problem that my SR model does.

The Sharkoon headset models SX, SP, and SR are all the same, with different colors. The component features connected to the headset are what make them different.

THE CRAZIEST thing to me is people either confused by or upset with the number of cables. UH?? Have you seen how many cables are in your car or computer? It's because every part has to be connected with a WIRE. How else is it all supposed to work?
Cables are stable, moveable, hot-swappable, resistant to interference, and replaceable. I'm actually all for cables, the idea of a $240 wireless set is just goofball.

Notes:
-USB powered sometimes creates white noise/hiss, but the SX doens't have that problem. If yours does, then something is wrong.
-I'm not sure all the cables are white, but the headset it and it looks cool, especially next to the white Xbox 360.
-mic volume / voice chat is good to great. I say this with first-hand experience because my brother uses this set and I listen to him. He is clear as day, maybe a bit fuzzy, but he is talking quietly at night with the mic close to his mouth so as not to wake kids. The mic DOES NOT have a wind foam on it so that is probably why it is breathe sensitive.
-no sound insulation in the headphones section, in other words, these are not sound isolating headphones; too much noise outside will compete.
-headphones tend to break. These don't seem cheap, but they aren't metal either. So maybe get a square trade warranty?

LISTEN, if you have any questions, just ask. And please click "yes" if this was helpful.

3Good, but Better with certain Home Entertainment SetupsNov 16, 2011
By Nebulous Dream
I've owned the Sharkoon X-Tatic SX headset since June, and it has not lived up to the expectations of these other reviews. I will say that the audio quality is good for its price, but obviously it can't compete with more expensive surround sound headsets or a full set of speakers. However, they do their job admirably.

Unfortunately, I feel as though there are a few design flaws with the item. To begin, the headset must be plugged into the Xbox USB port as well as to the composite audio cables (the "red/white" cables) simultaneously. This is not bad in idea, but it can be cumbersome in execution. If you have an entertainment system with your Xbox 360 several feet away from your TV, the cables may have to be stretched, or they may not reach for your particular home entertainment setup. I understand that this is the way the item functions, but it may not be perfect for someone sitting more than 5 feet from their television, or someone who has their TV mounted. Just something to consider before purchase.

Additionally, if you plan on using this with your Xbox 360 AND charging your controller at the same time, get a different headset. The feedback sound which occurs is unbearable, but I believe this is common with USB powered headsets in the first place (not a specific con with this item).

Also, my mute button broke after about a month of use. I take good care of my items, and it no longer works (I have tested it numerous times using both Skype and Xbox Live chat). I am not sure if it is the switch itself or the wiring, but it no longer functions. I was also having difficulty with my friends hearing me in Xbox live chat the other day, and I switched to my other mic and it worked fine. It is hard to say if it's a result of this headset failing to perform it's job, Xbox live not working well, or my controller acting strangely (too many variables to isolate in that limited play session).

And the boom on the mic is very durable. The construction is great and the quality of my voice is good overall.

So, purchase if:

1. Your Xbox 360 and TV are in close proximity to one another, and you are looking for a light headset that will provide quality sound for your gaming experience. (Your mileage may vary with the mute button, though.)

2. You have neighbors and/or a significant other who hates when you play Call of Duty/Skyrim/(insert game here) late at night and need a quiet alternative.

3. You wish to double-up on a PC headset as well as an Xbox 360 headset.

Do not purchase if:

1. Your entertainment system is spread out, or you are more than 5 feet from your television.

2. You hate wires going everywhere, because there are several to move around, and it can become cumbersome at times. (If you are playing on your Xbox 360: Wires to the Composite cable, a wire between the controller and the in-line volume control box, a wire to the USB port, and if you dare charge your controller at the same time, another wire there.)
