Very ImpressedMar 20, 2010
By Alexander Povetkin Recently my USR started working not stable, I mean after 8 years and I decided to buy a new one. I tried Linksys Wireless N Router (WRT310N-CA) - speed is not impressed and heats too much. Then I bought Dlink DIR-655, the speed was very high, but works not stable under heavy loads. Then I downloaded latest firmware for DIR-655 (recommend) and it started working pretty much stable, but again sometimes freezed. I decided to buy 3com, because I loved USR and now I am extremely happy with this one. The website [...] shows 19 Mbps for DIR-655 and 17 Mbps for 3COM, it's not a big deal, but 3COM works very stable under [...] creates a very professional devices. My Internet Provider is SHAW.
Sustainable bandwidthAug 20, 2010
By Richie This router has been in use for some time as I like to put things through the rigors of everyday usage before giving it a stamp of approval. I must say this has met my needs in every way. It is feature packed, not necessarily for your regular home user but geared to someone with some exposure to netwrking, and looking for a home, or small branch office router. It was billed as a branch office router on 3Com when I did my research. This was purchased to replace other brands of home routers that could not keep up with the amount of data I would move across it. Those other routers and eight port switches died a fast death which became somewhat wasteful. After those deaths I was intent on purchasing a Cisco router, but remembered how my 3Com switch just merrily did its job. Of course not being a popular brand anymore, it can be difficult to locate a vendor I trust. This router is connected to a 3Com 8 port gigabit (OfficeConnect) switch, and just works beautifully for external connection with high bandwidth, and throughput remains constant. On the LAN the OfficeConnect also moves large amounts of data at an efficient and constant rate. 3Com lives up to its heritage although it is not a popular brand like some of the others. Hopefully HP can keep it alive. I use the wireless now and then to connect my laptop, but for the most part it is turned off when not in use. The connection is very stable and reliable, as one can expect.
