2Great feature set and price, but poor performanceOct 24, 2008
By Bart C. "BC"
This was the only box I could identify with 1080i output (via component cables) that allowed the use of a government coupon, so I went for it. Overall the feature set makes it appear to be a great value for the money (component and s-video outputs, digital optical audio out). But unfortunately I am finding the box to be nearly unusable due to the video freezing or pixelating every few seconds--despite 99-100% signal strength indicated on the unit's own meter. I connected a Dish Network TR-40CRA to the same antenna in the same location and its reception is nearly flawless, despite registering about 5% lower signal strength on its meter than the Winegard indicates. The Winegard's program guide is also very clunky, requiring 20-30 seconds to load data each time you change channels, and it cannot show data for a channel unless you actually tune to that channel. Also the Winegard cannot be programmed to facilitate timer recording--a huge disadvantage. Overall I would recommend this model only to those who just want to experiment with HDTV over the air and have some other means to actually watch programming (e.g., cable or another converter).

5HDTV TUNER WAS ALL I NEEDEDJul 17, 2010
By R. Stewart "rebeccaps"
When our TV was purchased in 2004 most TV's did not have built in tuners, the tuner had to be purchased separately. I bought this tuner as a replacement for the 1st one I bought. It does have a long pause to change channels. We did program the tuner to delete channels we did not want. It also has option to create a favorites list of channels. You can leave all the found channels. Then you can create a favorites so you can just go through those channels by pressing the FAV button.

It has multiple resolution settings and ratio formatting. It, also, has parental programming.

I have an HDTV antenna and have only over the air reception. This works great for what I needed which was a tuner. I still use my VCR to record shows.
