It is full tang like the description said. The bands that were used to cover the handle were loose from the start. I barely held it and swung it around a few times and I could feel them shifting and about to fall out. They should have been tightened more. Under the bands is what looks like a black tape material to give it cushion I guess. But honestly, for the price, I can't really complain. You're getting your money's worth
