 Slower but SafeNov 11, 2010

You have a choice to make when you install internet security software. Some products wrap your laptop in a secure fortress. That's great, as long as you don't mind waiting for your browser to load. Every. time. Some products are faster, but they leave you with some doubt. When will I get the cornficker?
For people that want to risk it and go more quickly, it is possible to just buy one anti-virus program and then run the Window firewall. That isn't entirely a bad idea, particularly if you are using a router. If you are on a modem or some kind of dial-up, with no buffer between your computer and the outside world, then you need more. If you are going to use your laptop at an internet cafe, you probably need to err on the safe side, as well.
I run CA at work. It is very slow. The other day, my CA firewall blocked me from accessing our share drive. I wouldn't even dare to use the program that puts content safeguards in place in order to protect children. It makes it virtually impossible to get anything done.
WebRoot says that it is designed to accomplish both, giving its users plenty of defense against bad guys while letting your computer run at an acceptable pace.
Webroot has a firewall, anti-virus, privacy protection, and a password encryption program. I use LastPass, a free password producer, at work. Everyone should have one. Webroot has one.
I would say that Webroot leans a bit more on the secure side. Since I use my laptop when I travel, it is a good fit. I am glad to not be using CA on my home computer. Some people tell me that I should go with Norton.
What I like: They've thrown in some identity protection as well.
What I don't like: this software takes a long time to load.

I have used Webroot Anti-virus for several years, and in recent months moved up to Internet Security Complete. The extra protection and pre-warning of doubtful web-sites is a big bonus. Excellent protection from an excellent product!

Love this product-quick and comprehensive for our needsNov 11, 2010

We have used this product for the last 3-4 years and love it for Spyware and general Internet production. We had Spysweeper with Antivirus previously and now are using the Internet Protection package just received, which I am here reviewing.
Compared the the other version we had, this one seems a bit less smoother in its interface, with tabs that are laid out in a simple interface, and the settings are pre-set to allow for regular scans and background protection.
Websites are now automatically tagged as safe or unsafe, when they appear in search results, and the pop up that alerts us of intrusions seems to function quicker and quickly disappears (the other one seems to be a bit more jagged when it appears).
The other fact to note is that this product has not slowed down either of our laptops or desktops significantly, while scanning. Some other "suite" type products practically grinds the computer to a halt, which can be intrusive and annoying, but we have not found the same with this product. Highly recommended.

 Good at antivirus, but serious issues.Feb 13, 2011

Webroot does a good job at blocking viruses & cookies, etc. But it also blocks some websites that it deems unsafe (craig's list) and does not allow the user to unblock them. I have to restart the browser to get back onto CL. It does not slow down my computer, but it does occasionally lock it up (manual restart required) which is something I never had a problem with before installing this software. This version of webroot does include a firewall so other firewalls must be disabled for webroot to work on your system. It works fine on my box running XP, but the webroot firewall blocks access to the internet from my Windows 7 box. The only setting it accepts that allows internet access is "no protection" which defeats the purpose of the product. The customer support number is useless. I have tried calling twice and both times waited on hold over 45 minutes, only to have the call disconnected before anyone pics up. I would not use this product again.

At last an internet security suite that doesn't drive me crazy! Norton has become so bloated. And Trend Micro used to really frustrate me with putting emails in the spam folder, no matter how many times I would declare that emails from this sender are not spam.
Webroot seems to do just what I want, and nothing that I do not want.
