at last 3D! well, almost. halfway there......Jun 25, 2011
By R. L. Epps this blurb comes directly from the help database on vegas 11
"If you want to create a stereoscopic 3D project, you can burn a standard Blu-ray Disc or DVD in side-by-side format and play it on any Blu-ray Disc or DVD player. When the player is connected to a recent 3D TV, you can use the TV's menu to put it into side-by-side mode and enjoy 3D playback.
If your goal is the higher-end Blu-ray 3D(tm) format, Vegas Movie Studio can prepare content in full HD per-eye format by rendering two separate files (using Left only and Right only modes), which can be read by an MVC encoder such as the Dualstream 3D encoder and authored using a tool such as Blu-print.
For more information about working with stereoscopic 3D projects, please see Stereoscopic 3D Editing."
unless you are a pro or are commited to the process, don't even think about dualstream. here's the statement from sonycreativesoftware.com "Please note that Dualstream 3D is a command line style encoder. Parameter settings for operation are entered manually using a spreadsheet document."
i'm just purchased the Sony HDR-TD10 High Definition 3D Handycam Camcorder with 10x Optical Zoom (Dark Gray) the only full hd 3d mvc format recording camcorder on the consumer level market and i was looking for a way to burn 3d bluray. and the top statement sums up my dissapointment with this software. i just want to take the files off my camcorder, view them, edit them, and put the finished product on a 3d blu-ray disc in the full resolution 3d spec, i don't care about the menus or the other fancy stuff, just 3d blu ray at the full 1080/60i i recorded my stuff in. i got everything i wanted except a no go on the 3d blu ray spec. if i was stuck without the ablity to make a full hd res 3d disc, i might as well have purchased the inferior Panasonic HDC-SDT750K, High Definition 3D Camcorder and saved the $750. i dont want a 8x9 square 3d image, or a half res 1080x960 streched to 1080x1920. sony, i paid $1500 for your camcorder, why can't i burn a 3d bluray disc in full MVC?
the 3d ablity of this software is basicly the only things that they have upgraded from vegas 10. oh yeah, and you can also upload 3d video to you tube. whoo-hoo. it's still a powerful software bundle. (that's why i'm only taking off one star for my particular issue.) If you are ok with what it can do with 3d, than by all means, go for it, but if you dont need 3d, are dissatisfied with the inablity to burn 3d in full spec to BD, or are simply trying to upgrade from 10, pass for now and hope for an update.
UPDATE: direct from the update notes on the sony website at [...]
Notable fixes/changes in version 11.0 (Build 231) "The Burn Blu-ray Disc feature has been updated for compliance with the Blu-ray Disc specification. You can render 3D projects to a Blu-ray 3D Disc image file (.iso) from the timeline (Tools > Burn Disc > Blu-ray Disc). This feature is intended for commercial BD-ROM preparation testing." i have yet to test this feature but it looks like we're moving in the right direction

Runs clean, despite 32-bitJul 12, 2011
By Jonathan M. Davis I upgraded to this version and I had to remove my negative review for this product which I had posted solely on the basis of it being 32-bit. It actually runs clean on Windows x64, few or no crashes for me anymore. I couldn't say the same for v10. I'm quite happy with this product.
My lingering frustrations are that Sony doesn't seem to let users participate in designing their dialog boxes because they *still* don't resize properly. Adding text generators is a nuisance because you're given this little window to input large-font text and can only use the video preview to figure out what you've entered when your text has already bled past the viewable area. They did finally replace the default font from nasty Arial, but now it's Tahoma or some other similar Windows XP era font. And you still can't set the default font, ARRRGH!

Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD 11 Platinum not loadingJul 15, 2011
By Macdonald Cory I don't know what is wrong with this program but it is not loading. It stops at "Initializing Direct X plug-ins". I have used several different generations of Movie Studio in the past, and the programs have always been reliable until I changed my operating system to Windows 7 64 bit. My last version of Movie Studio 8 worked well in Vista 64 bit except for the problem of not being able to read music CDs. When I changed operating systems, it stopped working; it loaded in the same manner as Movie STudio 11 which means it hung up on a certain section of code. I did a Windows compatiblity test on Movie Studio HD 11, and the test said that the programs wasn't compatible! The program is supposed to be compatible with Windows 7! I am very angry; Sony Vegas Movie Studio has been so reliable in the past.

Been using the newly released trial versionJun 11, 2011
By Jack (NMI) Stecker First I am using the trial version. So Far I love it but I am a relative newcomer to Video editing. That is why the 4 stars. I have Used Adobe Photoshop element v8. I have used that to make slide shows. Not video's. I am use to Photoshop for slide shows so I am having to live with a learning curve on Vegas on that. The only thing I miss in Vegas is the option to automatically adjust the clips to the audio. But That is it. The advantage to Vegas is that it is a 64bit app which means it can more efficiently use memory than Adobe. Cybernet's trial version gave me trouble with the video quality. Very Poor. So Far for the price I'm drawn to Sony Vegas Platinum 11 suite or Adobe Element 9/Premium package. The only problem I had with Vegas was the learning curve and I had a crash one time but I occasionally get them with Adobe also. I will keep updating this as time passes. I will also put down my final choice for a video editor. I will update my rating also as time passes Update I have used it enough now that I feel confident in ordering it. Update 06-13-2011: OMG This is amazing. I had no Idea. A group I'm in is celebrating an anniversary and I had a bunch of stills from last year. I've made slide shows before but OMG never like this. This is amazing. I haven't had any crashes. Just the learning curve.
