4I like themDec 11, 2009
By A. Mudar
I'm no expert on long underwear, but I can say I've had these for about a year and they have held up fine so far. They making a huge difference when walking around campus in the winter. Plus they are thin so I can wear them under my usual jeans. I like them.

5Comfortable Indoors and OutJan 14, 2011
By P. Baune
I live in Minnesota. I own two tops and two bottoms. I wear the bottoms every day during the winter months. They are NOT for standing on a lake ice fishing. They do work great for the short periods of time a person is out and about in the winter like when going to work or the store. What I notice is you don't feel the wind on your bare skin as it blows up your pant legs. They breath very well so they also work great when doing outdoor activities like shoveling the drive way or golf on the cool fall days. They're thin enough that you don't really know you have them on when indoors. I never feel hot or sweaty while wearing these in the house or at work. I've had one pair of bottoms for 5 years. They still haven't worn out. Great product if you use it for what it was intended.

Edit 12/12/11: I recently purchased this product thinking it was the same as the ones I've owned for several years. They are not the same thing. My original review was for the Terramar Body Sensors Elite Micro-Silk pant Model W6173. Those were 100% polyester, probably twice as thick and as I just found out, way more durable. I've had the Thermasilk pants for about two months now and they are already showing wear. Snags and runs just like women's nylons. I would give these 3 stars. They are very comfortable but not very durable. Terramar no longer makes the Micro-Silk tops and bottoms. What a mistake on their part. It was a far superior product.

5Thermasilk pant is perfect second skinSep 13, 2010
By W. Plumhoff "DM Karayzee"
I bought this garment specifically to wear on the 4 day hike of the Inca Trail up to Machu Pichu in Peru. I could not have been any happier with my purchase.
At it's highest point before reaching Machu Pichu, the trail reaches over 4,000 meters (13,828 feet) and it gets quite cold, especially for a hot room yoga teacher like me. I barely noticed the pants, them being super soft and very breathable, but was completely aware of how insulated and wardm I felt. Whether walking or standing still, I was never too hot as the pant breathes very well and never made me sweat only to cool and cause me to feel damp or cold.
I highly recommend this item if you plan on any activity where cold weather may be a factor, especially if the amount you pack and take along is a factor in your overall weight, or even just for a day on the slopes skiing.
I hope you enjoy them as much as I.

First thing first... these are really, really thin. We're talking stocking thin here. Thicker than women's nylons, but you can definitely see through them. You will be able to see every feature on your body through these. You won't be lounging around the house with anyone but your significant other.

I got these to wear under leathers to keep from sticking. For that purpose, they will do just fine. I also have a pair of Lands' End interlock silk pants, which are much thicker.

The Lands' End pants are good for three seasons. These are good for summer, or maybe a base layer in spring/fall. If you're expecting winter insulation, forget it. Get a pair of Icebreaker wool pants and never go back.

For the small difference in price, I would go back to Lands' End. The LE just fit better, feel better, insulate better, and don't snag as easily. Unfortunately LE are not available all year it seems. If you want ultra thin to keep from sticking to leather, these will work and save a few bucks without fear of overheating.

2Don't Hold Up to Outdoor WorkApr 09, 2011
By J. M.
I bought a pair of these pants as a base layer to help keep warm. Under a pair of blue jeans, I was surprised that they didn't block the wind well at all. I would come inside from a walk and realize after taking them off that my thighs were freezing! After using them for about a week, I realized that the crotch was torn completely and getting worse. I wasn't doing gymnastics outside, just typical work like walking around and bending over! As far as I knew I was wearing the correct size as they felt comfortable but as tight as you would expect long underwear to be. These are not cheap (dollar wise) and I won't be risking my money on them again.
