AWESOME! Until It Quit Working. . .Feb 07, 2011
By Prizefind This machine only makes blended soups, but they are insanely easy and delicious. However, after 3 perfect soups the heating element completely stopped working. Just would not heat up at all. Fortunately, Amazon has a wonderful return policy so I am sending it back and getting another. I hope the new one keeps working because except for the malfunction, I LOVE IT. I could only give it 3 stars because I don't know why it just quit on me. I would give it a higher rating also if it didn't leave a burnt ring of soup on the bottom like another reviewer mentioned. Until somebody invents a better "Soup-Robot" than Soup-a-Chef, I'll have to stick with it though.

Super Soup a ChefFeb 03, 2011
By Rev. Dr. John Trigilio, Jr.

I would give five stars except for the fact that every time I make soup there is a small strip of burnt food at the bottom of the blender, no matter what kind or quantity of soup I make. Other than that, the machine works magnificently. I made San Marzano Tomato soup, potato soup, summer squash soup, turnip/parsnip/carrot soup, mushroom soup, pea soup with mint. The machine nicely chops and then purees the vegetables and pauses to heat and cook the mixture until ready to eat. In about half hour you can have delicious home made soup. I have used fresh vegetables as well as defrosted frozen ones. Vegetable, chicken or beef broth. And you can bypass the heating and just use the blender to make tasty smoothies.
This machine is half the price of its competitors but does the same work and gives you delicious and nutricious soup. The manufacturers could give you more recipes, however and the problem of cleaning the burnt food at the bottom of the blender is still an annoyance. All in all, it is still a great value and a big help in the kitchen.

Love, Love, Love this soup maker!!!Jul 22, 2011
By B-Squared This was an impulse buy at a discount store (I found out Amazon has it cheaper!), but I must comment on it. I was looking for a way to eat more vegetables but I'm a super lazy cook. This machine has changed my nutritional life! I merely roughly chop some veggies from the fridge (broccoli, carrots, celery, potato, sweet potato, whatever I've bought to cook but probably won't!) with a few staples (onion, garlic, chicken broth, and red pepper flakes), and in 30 minutes I have soup! Today I pulled out some frozen spinach, a can of artichokes, broiled some onion and garlic to soften, and I'll soon see how it tastes in the form of soup.
I agree with the other comments regarding things sticking to the bottom heating element. THE SOLUTION: A LIGHT COATING OF OLIVE OIL TO GREASE THE BOTTOM BEFORE ADDING ANY INGREDIENTS. HAS WORKED LIKE A CHARM FOR ME! AND, OLIVE OIL IS GOOD FOR YOU, SO NO HARM DONE.
Just bought one for my mom who has to pulverize everything she eats now due to radiation damage to her bowel. Can't wait to see what she thinks of it! If this unit dies, I will be sad then promptly purchase another.
Addendum: My mom loves it. I just noticed a leak at the bottom of the base on mine, I think the jug is leaking. Drats!

Soup MakerJan 01, 2011
By Ryan W. Schukei This a good product. It is simple to use and easy to setup. The product makes excellent soup and the recipes are good. I haven't tried independent recipes but I would expect them to be as good as the ones provided.
The only problem that I have seen with the unit is that the lid has to be exact even though it will go on various ways. It has to be align correctly with few guidelines. This is a minor problem however. Something to be looked at in future generations.
I look forward to using this easy appliance in cooking. I would recomnend it to all who like soup made easy.

PIECE O' SH**--WAITING TO SEE HOW THEIR CUSTOMER SVC ISJul 12, 2011
By A. Strong Used it ONCE, plugged in to use second time, heating element does not work and it will not cycle through soupmaking programs. IT'S CRAP. I've emailed their people but we'll see if they even respond. JUNK. If customer service is handled correctly and I receive a replacement unit, I am happy to take this review down but until then, you've been duly warned.
