4Good Sound for the moneyDec 08, 2009
By Ross D. Orr "Fun Daddy"
Very good sound for a "Mini Shelf" system but then, it is not very small so make sure you have room and able to hold 146 pounds. The Bass boost is in deed heavy bass and vibrates things (probably too good for late hours in most places). Sound is still pretty good without bass boost with a little extra volume. I think Sony needs to make a half bass boost which probably would be the best sound on many occassions.
Like the Ipod input for my use and also so friends caneasily bring and play music they like. It looks "cool" but not sophistcated, Not the greatest sound
but it is good and for the price, I have no regrets.

5Beter than expectedDec 13, 2009
By Evelyn Neely
When looking at the stereos that you had I saw this stereo I said why not, it looks good, the ratings from cusomrs wer good and the discription of the stereo sounded good. When it arrived we hooked it up and we give it a 5 star because its great. Easy to hook up, easy to program, and the ipod hookup is great. It was a great buy for the money. The sound has great clarity.

4Big Bang For the $$$$$$$Dec 15, 2010
By John A. Howe Jr.
I bought this stereo because I want to "feel", as well as well as hear my music.I wanted a deep, thumping bass that will shake and rattle the windows. This is it!!!
I have tested this unit playing the Rolling Stones,Bad Company,Beatles(basically classic rock).....using the CD Player.
This is like having a PA system in your home...and as prior revewiers have mentioned, you might have to live in fear that your neighbors might call the cops for disrupting the peace--if there is really such a law.
My only gripe is that in the owners manual it states that it is not IPHONE compatible. But it accepts IPODS. Bonus:Phono Inputs!!!!.......Listen to your old record albums with rich, deep bass!!!! It's not the most attractive piece of equipment, but for $500-600........ it gets the job done in a big way.
This does not support D-light sync lighting as stated in Amazon's description.Good thing because the adaptor needed is nowhere to be found---it's not being manufactured by Sony anymore.
UPDATE after over a year of use:It is money well spent...fantastic booming bass.I've had alot of systems over the years, and this can't be beat for the price.Speakers will handle all the volume your ears will ever want.It will really rock your world!!Did I mention the wonderful bass??Simply incredible!!!

5LOUD!!!Nov 28, 2010
By Daniel Rodowicz "electronics enthusiest"
My parents wanted a good sound system for their 25th anniversary party and I found this. I got it for $560. The the settings for the equalizer are a little finicky, but after playing around a little I was able to set it up well. If when you use it you have the speakers right beside the receiver, and you use an iPod with an accelerometer, make sure you turn off shake to shuffle because the bass that this sound system produces will cause your iPod to start freaking out! That's what happened at my parent's party and the guests began to complain. The sound quality seems great, although I am not an audiophile. The main reason I preferred to buy this over a 1000 watt home theater in a box is because the woofers are so large that turning up the volume won't damage the speakers.

being that ilove sonystereos owning this for $650.00 hey ithink this system opened upnow and it sounds amazing it blew me away! warning!!! this system is not for the weak at heart!!!.its more for people who really like loud music not only its loud it sounds classy. the speakers are better on the floor becuase you don,t want it breaking. the groove bass.scares me it shakes the house. idon,t want to pop the speaker so i leave it off.its worth the price the build qaulity is like nothing iseen on the market very very soild. and heavy!!ipod dock i havenot tried it yet.but im more of a cd person.im veryhappy with this stereo. but im kind of iching to have the zux9.1000watt system.omg 1000 watts. lol but too expansive.
