 A GREAT and SIMPLE programJul 14, 2010

It's rare to come across a program that works this well, and this easy. I've yet to read a single help page or manual, and can do all I want with it to capture screen images. It has these GREAT capture modes - like automatically selecting an obvious object or of automatically scrolling a full web page and capturing that as one image. It works this easy: Start the program, press the big red "capture" button, then press the left mouse button when you've selected what you want (or more correctly, when you see that it has selected what you want). It pops up the screen in the Snagit Editor from where I simply right click > copy and then paste it where I want - an email, a Word Doc, etc. I've also made .PDF documents very easily.
I'm sure that sooner or later I'll need to read at least a little bit of the instruction manual, but it's so great to be up and running with it so fast!

Fasting shipping, love the product! Snagit is a product you won't want to be without, ever. I even ordered it special at the office, it's so invaluable to me. The large company I work for (can't mention, sorry) agrees that there isn't anything else out there like it and presently offers it as a special request. They promise one day it will be a regular item to download from their standard list of software choices. And why shouldn't it be, it's reasonably priced, easy to use, and the best product for screen capture available. In addition to snagging images and editing, Snagit has separate capture settings for copying Web sites, text, including video and you can even record your screen's action in the AVI format. There are even annotation varieties like arrows, speech bubbles, and more make it easy to customize your captures. With more than 40 ways to capture your screen, what's not to like?! Presently, this software is windows-based only, but there's been such a demand for a mac version it's in beta stage now and I'll be first in line for my other computer! Don't hesitate . . . it's grrreat!

I have used Snagit in the past and the newer version added a lot more features. I prefer a simpler menu of yester-year, like version 7, but it's a solid product. I just wish i can do screen capture without going through more steps (so i can do lot of capture repeatedly).

Just an Old SE rattling on ...Apr 20, 2011

I'm a rare breed, a 63 year old SE (told you I was rare/endangerd) that nervously admits to being in business for 40 years.
I haven't used snagit for years ... I've used this product over for more than a decade.
Snagit is very well developed without the usual conter intuitve junk that parades as a presentation layer.
Recently a junior engineer asked me if I could give him a copy of this application.
So here I am on Amazon. I'll buy it today and then give him the licensed product.
I've lived in the trenches ... have way too many scars to blindly bootleg software that becomes part of your workflow. If I'd have any pull, everyone in my organization would have a copy of Snagit ... a licnsed copy of Snagit.
I can't think of higher praise for a piece of shrink wrap application/utility software.

I recently wrote a new book (Using Excel for Basic Statistical Analysis) and I needed a program that would allow for quick & easy screen captures. A friend at work recommended Snagit. The price was right, and I really love this program. There are two modes that I have used extensively already. The first is the still capture, which works great for items going in a book. A simple click starts the program, you align the cross-hairs on what you want to capture, and you're done. The program works very fast.
Once you snag the picture you can use the Snagit editing software to create a very professional looking item. It is very easy to add text, comments, arrows, and all kinds of things to the new picture. You can save the picture in a variety of file formats as well. I used the program to grab a map from one of the online sources, then used the edit software to add directions and arrows that would make it easier for people to find my house. I'm telling you, this is great software, and I'm not sure how I survived this long without it.
The second feature that is very useful is the video capture mode. With the new book, I can now create a video of the actual activity I use in the other programs. As an example, when entering a formula into Excel I don't have to rely on just text and a still picture to tell the story. For my training systems I can now create a video showing the software being used. The quality is fairly good as well. Now, I can have readers of the book (which will soon be available on Kindle) visit a website to download the video.
Since I'm under contract for two more books on research methods and statistics I can see that this program is going to get a real workout. Now I can not only snag shots from Excel but from just about every other program I have on my computer. The quality is great, the editing provides plenty of professional looking options, and the production of new training material is a real snap. So ... Snapit up and get started with your own increased production.
