Lots o' features, very stylishApr 07, 2009
By FrontRowJoe I've had this unit for a few days now, and so far it has done everything as advertised. The DivX playback via USB is very impressive: no stuttering and very high quality. One caveat that I would like to point out: this unit does NOT play WMV files. I saw that WMA was listed and hoped that it would support WMV as well, but no such luck. Other than that, I've been pleased with it thus far.

It's Good So FarNov 22, 2009
By Jeffrey Liss The display is gorgeous. Sound is adequate for movies. Set up was simple. The DVD player is connected via HDMI cable to a 40" Sony Z series HDTV. We've played three DVDs so far and my only complaint is that English subtitles came on at the beginning of one of the American movies. That was strange considering the default language setting was set to English. I removed the subtitles by clicking on subtitles on the remote a few times. The size is right on this player and that is one of the reasons we bought it: We did not have a lot of room in our bedroom for a big bulky player. This player looks nice and its small and easy to operate. It is not Blu-Ray, but it does a good job of upconverting DVDs to 1080p format. And the price is right.

Veru good picture quality and files supportMay 12, 2009
By J. P. Frechette I have this DVD player since 3 weeks and i really love it. I purchased it as a bedroom player went with this model for the style and the HDMI connector (less wire is a plus in a bedroom).
I use a PS3 in the living room for DVD playback and i tried them both side by side and the 89$ samsung is just as good at up-converting regular DVD as the PS3. In fact, i prefer the samsung because it have the ability to stretch anamorphic to 16:9 screen with the touch a button, while in playback. The PS3 need to go back in the home menu before you can set the view type you want and only stretch with a 480p output trough HDMI. The samsung do 1080p strech.
It handle every single movie i got from torrent website. USB input is a must for torrent users. It can also rip a CD to the USB key in mp3 256kbps in less than 6 minutes, but you'll have to manually input tags.
For 89$, can't ask for more. The remote is a little bit cheap looking but look great.

average, at bestAug 04, 2009

I like the form factor, which is the only reason I got it.
It does the basics fine, you put in a DVD and it upconverts and plays.
Issues: -Sometimes a DVD will start in the middle with subtitles turned on, very random... -The fast forward button does 2X, 4X, 64X, 128X (sometime between 4X and 64X is what you would normally want so this is extremely annoying. -When you are fast forwarding, it doesn't show a progress bar at bottom of screen to show how far into the DVD you are, or even display the time. This would be extremely helpful. Remember, there are no display on the machine itself, so they should display more info on the screen.
I have a Samsung tv so I use the ANynet feature. It turns on the TV and sets it to the right HDMI port when DVD player is turned on. Nice, but I wish it would change it back to the last HDMI port when I turn off the DVD.
USB input - it doesn't play all mp4 files, only divx which I don't think most people think of as mp4 files.
Samsung, how about a firmware update?
