Sage Peachtree Premium Accounting 2011Dec 20, 2011
By Joy I have used Peachtree Accounting for approx 12 years in several small businesses. To my knowledge, it is the only reasonably priced small business accounting program that also includes fixed assets. It includes all the accounting functions most small businesses would ever use. While the navigation within the program is proprietary; you learn quickly and it is very easy to get around after that.
Fully customizable to let people have access only to that information which they NEED TO KNOW OR HAVE AUTHORITY TO CHANGE.
Tons of business information on your Company at any point in time so there is no excuse for not knowing exactly where your business stands financially.
The only cons I can think of are:
1. It seems to be difficult to install on some systems, generating errors that require technical support to get around. Once installed, it is normally trouble free in my experience.
2. You can go back and change data that you have entered in prior periods which may be an issue for you from an audit standpoint. But it can also be helpful when you absolutely need to change prior info and don't want to clutter up your system with a bunch of correcting entries in subsequent periods. It's the user's call on this point - can be good or bad depending on the skill level of the people you have accessing your system.

We selected Peachtree Premium!Jan 20, 2011

We (a non-profit museum)purchased Peachtree Premium because it allows us to capture expenses by department with budgets and variances. This was very important for us and Peachtree does what we want!

Faster loading and login - PCI compliant credit card processingJun 24, 2010

This is definitely an improvement to 2010, at least because it is back to loading and logging into a company in a normal amount of time - back to how it was before 2010. 2010 was very slow loading and getting into a company. Otherwise, it seems to be just tweaks to 2010. If you can still get support with your current version, and you don't need any of the new features, then I wouldn't upgrade. I had to upgrade because 2010 won't work after June 30, 2010 for credit card processing (pci compliance issue). If you use Peachtree to process credit cards (which I recommend) then you will need to upgrade to 2011. The installation upgrade from 2010 was very easy and worked flawlessly. If you are upgrading from an earlier version than 2010 then it might be a little more difficult and take some getting used to, as it was for me going from 2008 to 2010. There are new shipping/billing contacts, which I don't like. We had separate older shipping and billing and it was a little bit of a pain.
Overall, very good to finally be able to get rid of the horrible load speed of 2010.
I was a bit miffed that I was forced to upgrade to 2011 just because of the PCI compliant credit card scheme. I had just upgraded to 2010 6 months ago. Upgrade only cost me fifty bucks, as I signed up for the super duper support package for 2010 where any upgrades during the year are only 50 bukos.

Nothing Wrong With Last Year's VersionDec 29, 2011
By D. Hallett
"Fair Reader"
I need to do a bit of bookkeeping for my home business. I've used Quickbooks for years, but it can't quite do what I need it to. So, I decided to switch to Peachtree. This version is the TOP of the line that Peachtree offers ... of course, it's the 2011 version and not the new one for 2012 (which costs a couple hundred dollars more!). So, I got all the functionality I needed for a small portion of the price of the newer version.
What's not to like?
