I like them!Oct 03, 2010
By Gary Lecureux They are strong and durable. I had another pair of them before I bought these. You can remove them for security when not using your boat. They were kind of difficult to install in my alluminum boat because I had to reinforce the side and space it towards the inside. I used artificial decking material. Originally I used real decking but it eventually cracked. I would recommend these but you should have a plan as to how you will install them before you buy them. I may eventually buy more bases and install them in additional locations. I like the pole locks on this model. It gives you some added security when fishing.

Scotty Powerlock Black rod Holder with 241 Deck MountOct 29, 2010
By NoIDAtAll I mounted it to my Old Town kayak, just in front of the cockpit. It looks and works great - frees my hands for paddling, mounts very securely and I can easily remove the holder from the mount when I'm not fishing, as in hauling or just paddling, w/o the mount getting in the way. The mount isn't as flat as Scotty's alternate mount for this holder, but I think I prefer it, as it holds the holder at a convenient height w/o an extension and isn't overly bulky.

Better than others for the same money!Jun 12, 2010
By Brad Binder I am very happy with these rod holders. I like that they have lots of different positions that you can put them in. with 8 of them on my boat you dont have to worry about lines getting into each other. Even though they are plastic they are very strong and durable. The only drawback is that they are a little tight to adjust when side swiveling.

Scottys = QualityJul 03, 2011
By BKX Don't look any further these are the best rod holders. I did some research on rod holders and this one is well made. Most of them are made out of plastic and have very thin walls. Scottys are heavy duty and sturdy. The powerlock is easy to use and out of the way enough that you can leave it disengaged for easy access to grab the rod when you have a fish on. The holder is easy to reposition, but hard enough that the rod holder won't pop out unexpectedly. I have used others and when paddling in my kayak the holder moves around and I almost lost my rod. Easy to install and worth buying to keep your gear secure.

Excellent ProductJun 15, 2011
By netman I recently purchased 2 of these rod holders for use fishing for northern pike. I have to say I was impressed. Very strong and sturdy. I am going to buy a few additional mounts so I can use these in multiple configurations depending one how many lines(MN vs WI) I can legally fish and how many people are in my boat. Would recommend to anyone who is in the market for new/replacement rod holders.
