1NOT the ROXIO of Yester Year!Dec 17, 2010
By FDJ "Gaming_Wiz"
Okay, up front, I am a VERY EXPERIENCED Computer Technician and have used ROXIO since Version 5, thus, I am an experienced ROXIO user and know what I am talking about; this version however is a little disappointing. Currently I have a HIGH-POWERED Workstation, AMD 955 64-Bit CPU, 8 GB of RAM, LG Blu-Ray Burner, Plextor Burner, Windows 7 Ultimate, lots of "Goodies" installed, system is tweaked to perfection and has been running flawlessly since March of 2010. I installed ROXIO 2011 and immediately started having problems with my system ... and I NEVER have problems with it! The program loaded fine, but then it would absolutely NOT recognize my "LG Blu-Ray" Internal Burner. Then sporatically it would, then would not, recognize my PLEXTOR Burner. Then I started getting all kind of Windows 7 Operating System ERROR messages. Had to UNINSTALL the product and now everything is back to normal. By the way, I used "REVO Uninstaller" to remove ALL REMNANTS of ROXIO on my machine in the System Registry ... I recommend that all folks on PC's have that product to completely remove any non-functioning software systems (it's a GREAT REGISTRY Clean-Up Tool). Finally, if you are bound and determined to have ROXIO, then I would highly recommend setting a RESTORE POINT prior to loading it. Look, I am NOT against ROXIO products, as I've said initially, I have used their products since Creator Version 5.0, but something has gone wrong here, either they are NOT TESTING their products better prior to releasing them into the market, or just plain BAD DESIGN in their coding, either way, this release needs serious HELP; the product itself promises great features, but if you can't access DVD/CD Drives, it's pretty much useless. The SUPPORT situation with ROXIO is another situation, sometimes difficult to reach and followup via their Email System and it needs help as well; they send you an Email asking you if things were resolved, you enter your support ticket number, you see what has transpired, then you can't REPLY and send them any followup issues, it just keeps repeating the same previous support information, it's just like endless Email "Jail", I sinceley hope that they RE-REVIEW their product and get it back on track.

4Glad I DIDN'T read the reviews BEFORE purchase!Nov 22, 2010

Given so many bad reviews I would normally forgo purchasing, but I was desperate to edit a video converted from my parents 8mm/Super 8 home movies and didn't have much time to research. I had spent almost $400 converting the film to video and at $89/hr for editing, I figured I didn't have anything to lose attempting to do it myself. The program loaded fine. Wave did lock up once, and I received one "real time" error message. My 4-yr old computer was adequate but slow--no surprise there--I just played Wii golf with hubby while it was processing. I was able to edit the video, add a menu, a sound track, and burn a DVD all without so much as watching a tutorial (I was too impatient--probably could have done it faster if I had). The project turned out GREAT. Now I just need to burn copies for the family--this is going to be the best Christmas present ever! And I'm already planning a slide show of my daughter's wedding photos.

Suggestion: It would be great if they offered some free sound effects--the ones I previewed were ridiculously expensive.

1TerribleOct 05, 2010

I bought Roxio Creator 2009 only two years ago and I was happy with it. Just bought a new computer and found out that Creator 2009 is incompatible with Windows 7. Disappointing. I waited a few weeks for Creator 2011 to come out and bought it. I had no problem loading Roxio Creator 2011. It just wouldn't work once I installed it. VideoWave kept crashing. The program would shut down while encoding movies. When I would try to copy DVDs, I would get an error message saying my disc may be dirty. (The discs I was trying to copy were pristine). The online support forum suggested some fixes, but nothing worked. I returned the software and got my money back.

1ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!!!!Oct 06, 2010

Do not buy this piece of junk. At first, I could not get it to install. It kept deleting temp files before the installer could use them, so I had to copy the entire temp folder to my desktop and tell the installer where to find the files for a bunch of files. Then, it said my certificate was corrupt and that I should re-install. Did so, twice, before contacting support. They had a .bat file to fix that in their support website. I finally got the program to run, but it runs VERY VERY VERY painfully slow and eats up all the cycles on a brand new dual core 64 bit windows 7 home premium edition machine. It was so slow it was unusable. Clicks took a second or more to register. Some mouse clicks turned into inadvertant click-and-drags. Changing a chapter title in the MyDVD portion of the software caused instant computer freeze. So, I tried to get a refund from their website and the link for a refund is BURIED 6 clicks deep, and when you finally click on the link, you get a website server error. They can't even run their own website. These guys are con artists. DO NOT BUY THIS SOFTWARE. I've uninstall-ed it and I even did a system restore because I'm sure this piece of junk messed up other programs as well. ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE!!!!!!!!

1It sucksOct 25, 2010

I had an error burning or creating iso file. I had to buy a new video card ($50) just to make it work. It worked but now the audio does not work, it is out of sync and choppy. They told me to change to DMA mode, I tried that and still no worky. There are cheaper products out there that work just fine. Roxio is just faster but nevertheless It does not work for me because I want a simple video with its original sound and I am tired of tuning my computer, buying parts and still not getting the results I wanted. I don't want to buy a supercomputer and I thing they should tell you to do just that, super dvd burner, super video card, super hard drive, tons of RAM, etc. Times are tough and I can't afford to change all that just for a simple dvd.
