Excellent Product So FarMar 20, 2011

Have used this basically to make soup. Heats quickly. Cooks evenly without burning. Very satisfied. Also, note that the fact that this unit is only a 900 watt unit is an advantage vs. competitive units of 1200-1500 watts because it is more amenable to being plugged into a generator when used as a backup cooking source during power outages. So well-done, Rival. You made a good product: Great for places where you can't have a stove, and great for those times when the stove won't work.

Nice looking wider plate than most.Dec 10, 2009
By cj buyer Like it in general. But it takes about 5 min. to get the pan to heat to the high temperature but after that it works fine. So far so good.

Did not last 3 monthsJul 08, 2011
By Joan of Arc I don't know where this was made, probably China. It worked reasonably well for about 3 months. It never really stays hot, continually shuts off before it can actually get going. Takes forever to boil a small saucepan of water. After about 3 months the dial just popped out, very cheaply made, I tried to repair it but it's just too shoddy. It no longer works at all so I had to buy another to replace it. You get what you pay for. I have gone through about 10 cheap hotplates in 5 years. I thought this one would be better because it cost a little more but actually it's worse than the ones I bought for $12. I am really sick of cheap malfunctioning crap and this is in that category.

not for every day useDec 15, 2011
By Thom bought this to use in my rv, with a percolator for morning coffee. Worked fine for the 1st 2 months, but the temp knob and the shaft attached to the body is plastic, and basically melted - after some fiddling, finally got it to high and it works on high, but there's no way to adjust the temp. cant turn it off cause the plastic doesn't connect inside, so I just unplug it, and plug it in to use. the base gets hot, yes

Not goodOct 16, 2011
By Crystal Fitzwater I had this burner for little over a month and it worked fine up to now. Then the knob broke off completely. Not a good quality product.
