Prefer Satin IceOct 14, 2010
By Amy Mcfarland
"Mom of 2"
I bought this to finish a job in a hurry, and it was about what I expected. I typically use Satin Ice, which I feel is a superior product, but much harder and more expensive to get. Wilton is sold in most craft and cookery shops, and is much more readily available, but I find the taste and consistency is not as good. Pros: Ease of use. It's so nice not to have to mix your own gum paste! This is a good sized bag for a cake or two, depending on how many figures or flowers you need to make. It also comes in a re-sealable bag, so if you only need half of it, you can store the rest for your next job without risking it drying out. It was also easy to tint and mold. Cons: As above, quality is not as good as Satin Ice in my opinion. The flowers I made with the Wilton's dried very quickly, and some of them cracked as they dried, so had to be remade.

great for a first timerApr 04, 2011
By nicole I have just started using Gum Paste so ordering this was a great way to learn how to use it withot having so much of it that it would have gone to waste had I not liked it. I will continue using this as I expand my artistic talents.

Works perfect!Nov 15, 2010

Okay, this isn't a super exciting product but it is very helpful. Gumpaste gets mixed with fondant to create solid formations of flowers, figurines, or whatever your heart desires. If your making something with gumpaste there is a good chance your not going to eat it. A lot of folks hate how the Wilton products taste and I'd have to agree. However, I wouldn't suggest eating anything made out of gumpaste Wilton or not. This product was extremely easy to work with and the bag resealed which is extremely helpful (why aren't their fondant bags resealable??

Good stuffSep 08, 2011
By Jolene Pirrone This is easy to color and shape and gives a consistent result. The instructions make you think you have to work with lightening reflexes or it will dry up on you, etc. But I found it very forgiving. It is also fairly economical - you get MANY flowers from one package.

Decoration OnlyJun 01, 2011
By Debra J. Mosely

Whenever I use gumpaste, it is for decoration only. I do not suggest that people I give these cakes to actually eat the decorations. I suggest that they remove them from the cake and keep as keepsakes. That being said, this product is good for decorations but you have to move quickly. If you don't, you end up with gumpaste designs that look like elephant's feet. Cover your gumpaste with plastic wrap or put in a plastic bag. Always color it using plastic gloves. And, remember that it picks up everything just like fondant. If you're wearing black cotton, you'll have black cotton specks on your gumpaste.
