It's amazing what you don't know on a second grade level.Jan 15, 2006
By Katey Knapp This took a 30-year-old mom and her 13-year-old son approximately 2 1/2 hours to complete. We are extremely proud of ourselves, despite being a bit chagrined at having kicked out the actual 2nd grader for whom it was bought. She lost 30 points from my character, which just could not be allowed.
It really is very educational and challenging for the grade level. Aside from the many trap door pitfalls, there are also math and language arts hurdles to jump, swing, or run through.
My son and I recommend this game for people of any age to brush up on basic skills, and if my daughter ever gets it out of our clutches and has a chance to play, I'm sure she'll agree.

I played this game when I was in elementary school, and I LOVED it. Some of the tasks got a bit boring/repetitive, but it is a good way to challenge your kid a bit.

DisappointedMar 28, 2009
By Anthony Pfeiffer We were very excited to try this program out. We used the same program for our first child back in the late 90's and it was WONDERFUL. So we purchased this updated version to work for Windows XP. To our disappointment, it wouldnt work. We try on both computers and it did not work so we had to get a refund. If it worked, it would have been a great program. Maybe the product was defective, but 4 out of 5 we ordered did not work.

By His Delight We were fans of previous reader rabbit programs again my daughter was challenged with the work that the disk requires but the only down fall is that this was a darker version.... Scary and more on the breaking the spells kind of game... Not interested!!! If you like reader rabbit and are looking for a game look for the reader rabbit 2nd grade mis-cheese-ious dreamship adventure....
But how do you enter the secret chamber???Oct 12, 2010

My kids started playing this game when they were about 6 and 4. Some parts they asked for help on- like typing in their own story and the harder math problems. It was fun to play with them and help them learn. One thing I very much liked about this game is that it gave you the instructions you needed to proceed. Most of the games make you wander around hoping to find clues to advancement- if you don't know where to find a thermogem or you can't figure out that you need to raise the beach umbrella which make the ladies go inside, which makes the workers start turning the gears which makes the energy you need (phew!!), then you can't play the game. The only place I recall getting stumped is a place I am still stumped: if anyone knows how you can enter the Secret Chamber after you achieve the rank of Dragon Fire, please post it!! My kids are still bugging me to find out!! Oh- we also had difficulty figuring out that in order to make Sam jump to collect correctly-spelled words, you have to use the arrows and spacebar. The kids skipped over the instructions. The kids are now 6 and 8 and they are still playing this game more than any other computer game we have.
