I've been using this Pentel mechanical pencil for over 40 years. I've bought a number of them over the years, but I dare say some of those I bought 30 years ago are still in my active collection. There is no better design on the market.

Writes very smooth, is light, never breaks down, and never jams. I don't use it for drafting, though I hear it's popular for that purpose. Every since I was a kid and my dad had these for marking blueprints I used to enjoy writing with them. The eraser is pretty measly (probably adequate for quick drafting corrections), but they do have refills. I have two on backup, though I've had the one I'm writing with now for over 10 years. Highly recommended.
