Description:

New Raptor Performance Ballistic Alloy, the first non-lead Alloy Airgun Ammunition that increases velocity up to 25% over lead, while maintaining “match grade” accuracy. Specifically designed as a hunting load, the new P.B.A.™ enables airguns which normally shoot 1000 f.p.s. to shoot up to 1200 f.p.s., with tremendous penetration. In fact, the ammunition is 50% harder than lead causing penetration to be enhanced by up to 100% in tests in actual hunting situations as well as ballistic mediums. Raptor P.B.A. test results show ballistic stability at super-sonic speeds and up to 90% weight retention using the new semi-pointed design. Comes in a 100 count .177cal rocket package.

2Good power, but terrible qualityMay 05, 2010
By H. GEHRLEIN
I have just purchased the PBA Gold pellets for my Crosman Nightstalker but I have found the quality of the manufacturing of the pellets are horrible. What I mean by this is I usually end up throwing away between 15 and 20 pellets per 100 package because of screwed up pellet shapes and. Most will be ok but I find a lot of the pellets are deformed and will not fit in my gun because of enlarged pellet skirts. Personally I will not be purchasing these pellets ever again. But if you enjoy spending $10 for pellets and throwing away 20% of them, then these should suit you!

4not badJul 28, 2007

Using them to shoot squirels (tree rats). Did not get in-out penetration. Tips rounded, not pointed. Higher velocity, but I seriously doubt anywhere near 25% they claim. Don't know if they're worth the extra cost for short range (about 50 feet or less). Better than Gamo magnum, but not much at the range I'm shooting.

4Not bad for the speed and penetrationJan 24, 2008

This PBA is excelent IF your using them for hunting. If your using to practice shooting (or match) I would recomend using a cheaper heaver (lead) pellet. I seem to get about .50" difference in accuracy between the "PBA" and the Gamo "Rocket" pellets.

PBA Raptor 1.25 C/C @ 30 yards.
Gamo Rockets .75 C/C @ the same.

Keep in mind that every gun shoots different and those PBA's may shoot better for you. Regardless I will always keep a tin of the PBA around for those pesky little critters!!

5Very high velocityJun 07, 2007
By R. Williams
I have paid thousands of dollars for the damage the squirrels have done to our house. So I purchased an air rifle with the PBA .177 Gamo pellets, and at present have 16 squirrels and everyone was a through and through shot. I could hardly believe it because I was judging by my childhood air rifle which did good to make it through one side of a coke can.

1Very bad pellet (in my rifle anyway) UPDATE: 8/8/11Apr 20, 2011
By Steven T. Blades "steve"
This pellet is simply terrible. Just to let you know, I have only fired these out of a Crosman Phantom 1000X, maybe they will work better in other rifles. I saw some other reviewers saying that 10% to 20% of the pellets are deformed. I did not have that problem. I bought 2 packs of these (200 pellets) and they all seem to be shaped uniformly. So far they all have broken the sound barrier, so velocity is not the problem. Accuracy is the problem and it is a huge problem. The first time i shot them i was shooting at 25 yards and I was on a bench but wasn't resting the rifle on a bag or anything (I shoot open sights, no scope). I was shooting at a very big piece of paper and my shots were all over the place, I mean close to a 2 foot spread. Oh well, it was a gloomy windy day, maybe I was just having a bad shooting day as well. The next time I was shooting at 6x6 inch targets at 25 yards rested on a bag. I put up several targets and was testing 4 different types of pellets. The 2 different types of crosman pellets consistently gave me just under snuff can size 5 shot groups. The 3rd type of pellet gave me 5 shot groups that were just a bit bigger. These Gamo Raptor PBA pellets gave me something a bit different. I shot a total of 15 pellets and I hit the target 1 time (and just barely at that). The gun is clearly accurate as shown by the other pellets groups. My shooting was also not the problem, also shown by the other pellet groups. I was also shooting 5 of each pellet and then rotating to the next type, so I came back to each type multiple times which rules out that I might have been getting fatigued or something changed with the rifle. I had this same result on a few outings. Maybe these work better in other guns but not my Phantom. I have to admit, it is cool to hear a pellet break the sound barrier, but that is about all these are good for.

UPDATE: I tried these pellets in an old Slavia 618 break barrel rifle that I had just finished rebuilding. The gun shoots golf ball sized 5 shot groups at 10 yards with every type of pellet I feed it except for the GAMO Raptors. They will not group, they jump all over the 6 inch target, even missing it from time to time. I had done some research and found that you don't want a pellet to reach speeds at or near the speed of sound, it creates "subsonic cavitation". This actually makes the pellet wobble and veer off course. This Slavia 618 only shoots at around 350 fps so I figured I could use the remaining Raptors in this gun. They would give me a flatter shooting trajectory from the extra speed but not reach a high enough speed to become unstable. A sound theory I believe, however reality proved to be something different. I don't know if it is the light weight that makes these things wander all over the place or what but they are not accurate at all. 2 different rifles, 2 different speeds, 1 result - terrible accuracy.
