Amazing detail, flexible tail, rich expressionOct 15, 2011

This is a nice toy.
Very good detail, the mane has a lot of texture. Nice muscles in the sides and legs and it shows convincing ribs on the sides.
Perfect alignment of the four paws with no wobble.
I was amazed to realize that the tail is flexible. This toy is much more flexible than the schleich giraffe I have, but seems just as durable.
The detail is even better than the scheich giraffe.

This is a superior solid vinyl figure from Papo. This figure is slightly larger than their other lion figures. Colouration and stance are typical of the species and careful attention has been paid to musculature. For collectors, this product far surpasses Schleich. I highly recommend this product and similar from Papo.

This is a gorgeous figurine, amazingly lifelike and detailed. A lot of texture on the mane, great muscles on the body, beautiful face. SO much better than Schleich!
My main complaint is that there isn't complete consistency from one lion to the next, so it's somewhat of a gamble what you get if you're ordering online. I bought this at a store that had several copies, and they all varied in color and placement of the markings. The one I ended up getting is much darker than a real lion would be, for example, a rich brown instead of tan, and his mane is all one color - the dark brown - instead of a gradient from tan (around the face) to brown (near the body) as shown in the product image here. Also, he doesn't have much white on his chin at all. But his eyes and muzzle have good definition, which is why I picked him over the others (which had a weird look in their eyes, haha). There's another reason I'm not too happy with the paint job. Even though the figurine itself is quite durable, the paint isn't - the lion got lightly scratched/rubbed while sitting in a box with other figurines, and his paint has rubbed off in a couple of places. At first I thought he had something stuck to him and scratched at it with my finger, which rubbed more paint off! Now I try not to touch him, but fear I may need to paint over his scars at some point.
And one last gripe. Even though the legs are balanced and the lion doesn't wobble, his front paws are curled up so his toes don't make contact with the floor. It looks a bit weird and unnatural, and uncomfortable if I were him.
Those are all annoying complaints, but I'd still give him 5 stars just because he's so gorgeous and detailed overall, and so much better than anything else out there!

I got this and when I opened it, the first thing I noticed was that this is VERY detailed! I love this and I have it on a shelf in my room.

Not much to review. This was purchased as a gift for a trainer to symbolize one of the styles of Conflict Resolution. It was a well received gift, fit the need perfectly.
