5This is the product you need! w/how to program review videoJul 24, 2010
By B. Rodgers "Gadget Geek"
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1SQMQFRN18X7R Some people complain about the complexity of programming, but if you can handle soldering a few wires and pushing a few buttons, it's not bad at all.

Since the steps to program seem to throw some people off, I've included that bit in my review. Unless you have a G35 and a headunit with voice commands, you'll want to map the source button instead of the voice command, but seeing these steps done can help you out regardless.

As previously stated, go directly to the website for instructions, otherwise bring a magnifying glass and highlighter so you can see which wires you're supposed to connect to, and with which resistors.

4Go to the manufacturer website for directions!Jan 10, 2010
By Stanley
After reading reviews on both Amazon and Crutchfield, I did as advised- I threw the directions from the box into the trash and then went to the PAC website for installation directions based on my car year and model. The only glitch in the installation that I ran across was related to the fact I had a Ford23B wire harness, and the directions are for Ford24 - the factory plug (I have a 2005 Ford Focus). As it turns out the only wire that doesn't match up from a 23B and a 24 is the wire for the steering wheel interface! So if you buy a wiring harness- to avoid cutting into the factory plug, make sure it's exactly the same. After much cussing, I realized I had to cut into the factory plug, once I did that- it was just a matter of programming it.

Yes, the other reviewers are correct- the programming gives you 4 seconds, so read ahead and be ready to input them. It takes a couple of times to get it right. Once it is installed it works great!

5Seamless Solution for OEM Steering Wheel ControlsOct 25, 2010
By Steve K.
This steering wheel control adapter works flawlessly with a Pioneer AVH-series head unit in my 2003 non-JBL 4Runner. Installation and programming is much easier than it first appears and I had no integration issues whatsoever.

Contrary to some other reviewers, I've experienced no input delays when depressing any of the steering wheel controls in Radio, CD, Aux or DVD modes. The only instance in which the control inputs are not instantaneous is when operating the skip track function in iPod mode. Even then, the delay is less than a 1/2 second and I do not believe this issue is necessarily attributable to the SWI-PS.

For anyone who wants retain the convenience and functionality of OEM steering wheel controls with an aftermarket receiver, this is the perfect solution.

4LATEST VERSIONApr 08, 2010
By Ernie "Ernie"
Amazon couldn't tell me if this was the 1.6.8 (pioneer bluetooth and voice programming) but told me I could return if not the right revision. The item shipped was the latest version.

As for product/install, the SWI series are slightly maddening to install and program, but really do the job.

Go to the site to get the streamlined setup, but the latest instructions still won't tell you, for example, which pin is #3 on the Mazda bluetooth connector (no connector map). This may change with time.

5Worked in 10 mins, lifesaverNov 17, 2011
By D. Nguyen
I first tried using the Metra ASWC because a lot of people on the forums suggested it. I tried everything for days to get it to work with my 2011 Tribeca, called tech support, no dice. They wouldn't even bother to try to help. Returned that unit and got a PAC. Tribecas aren't so hard, PAC had the proper directions and wiring instructions on their site. I wish I never bothered with the Metra, biggest waste of a few days of my life in a long while. I had the PAC unit wired and was programming in minutes. The whole process was done in 10 mins tops.
