Great gift for a quilterApr 22, 2011

I bought this as a gift for my mother and then ended up getting one for myself. I always wondered why my sewing never lay quite straight or hung well. It's b/c my material wasn't "squared" - and that is very hard to do without a quilter's rule. Definitely get one or two of these in various sizes to help make your projects professionally looking!

very sturdy. I have slipped with my cutter and it did not effect this block at all. Most ones I have used will nick it and this one did not do it. Wonderful that you can see your mark lines through it, other than that what else is there to say. It is a 4x4 inch quilting block ruler, and does what it is meant to do.

I misplaced my 6" square ruler, so I ordered a new one. Once it got here, I was amazed that I did any quilting without it!
The ruler itself is thick, sturdy acrylic, and the lines are marked in black and yellow, making them easy to see on all colors of fabrics.
I won't go into all the uses it is meant for (buy a quilting book), but I will say that as a quilting instructor, this is always on my supply list!

I spent a lot of time thinking about what size of ruler to choose when I bought my rotary cutting supplies. I'm really glad I went with the 6" x 24". It's a great size to get yourself started and has most of the features you could need for cutting. I ended up adding one smaller ruler to my collection (the Omnigrid Half & Quarter Ruler) and between the two I am able to do everything I've wanted to try! The acrylic is strong and the lines are easy to see on most fabrics. The ruler stays put with gentle pressure and doesn't slide around. An overall excellent choice.

I just started quilting and found this invaluable for cutting the patchwork. It would be too hard to go back to a regular ruler now!
