4Norton 360 5.0 Premier Version install flawAug 10, 2011
By Ron-zoni "ron-zoni"
The products works.
There are problems installing on a computer with a previous Norton version already installed. Norton makes installlation appear easy in their instructions, however, they don't tell you that you need to uninstall the previous version before installing the new version. So you follow the installation instruction provided in the box and it doesn't install. Then you call the Customer Service number in India and they tell you that you have to uninstall the earlier version before you can install the new version. To do that you must download Norton Uninstall, perform the uninstall and then you can install the new version. It took at least 45 minutes to do this.
It is a flaw that could be avoided if the instructions were written properly and included the uninstall program with the new version. Once installed Norton 360 works fine.
Hey Norton- fix the installation issue!!!

5I'm shocked Symantec has made a product this good.Aug 12, 2011

I tend to choose my antivirus on an annual basis and always mid year. This allows for a good combination of sale price to product life cycle ratio and there are plenty of reviews to check out. I decided to go with Norton 360 V5.0 Based on the reviews at PCMag.com. It rated the highest in almost every category. My personal experiences are that it installs quickly, uses very low resources and so far has done a terrific job. I get the best AV suite every year because my wife likes to face book and isn't very careful about the links she clicks on when she is searching for stuff. The less time momma spends being angry about her PC performance and the less time I have to spend fixing her computer the better. The program will run processes in the background based on available resources and will pop up a small non-intrusive message letting you know it is running those processes in the back ground. This is one of the most simple but nicest features I have seen an av company use their common sense to add. Instead of assuming you are dumb and don't need to know what they are doing they instead warn you in advance that if your resources jump up "it's just us and feel free to investigate further if you care to". The added cleanup/optimization features are nice and the the menu is intuitive. As of right now I am very pleased with Norton 360 V5 and find it to be far less of a resource hog and general pain in the butt over what my Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 was. It's actually kind of a pleasure to play around with the extra features when you are bored and find yourself with a bit of a maintenance window.

Currently using on two systems:
Win 7 32-bit AMD64 w/ 4gb RAM
Win 7 64-bit i5-2500k w/8gb RAM

5Great Product!!!Apr 13, 2011

I just installed norton on my laptop and it works perfectly. Just as described it doesn't affect the computer performance and has a super easy user friendly menu. I had different internet security products over the years and I have to say that this one the best one by far. Everything is really easy from computer tune up to manage your backup files and such, it even scans your facebook wall for treats!
I would definitely recomend that product to anyone. Don't let price scare you it will pay off

5Impressive Complete Protection!Oct 27, 2011
By V. Tumminia
Many years ago, I bought Norton Virus Protection and really hated the way it seemed to
take over and dominate everything on my computer in an obnoxious way. I removed it and never bought it again.

After using several other brands since that time and still having occassional
security issues from malicious software, I read reviews rating the lastest Norton 360
very high in every way, and decided to give it a try again.

I received and installed it on my three home computers and WOW am I totally impressed!!

It installed flawlessly and effortlessly and runs silently, quietly and almost invisibly
protecting my computers in every imaginable way! I am impressed!

Norton has come a long way over the years....!!

1don't buy Norton 360 PremierNov 25, 2011
By gschussel
I've been a norton User since back in the windows 95 days. I purchased Norton 360 Premier a month before my current subscription expired as Symantec sent me a reminder. I bought the 3 pack.

As I went to download and install on my first computer (Windows 7, 64 bit on Lenovo with i5 processor) I noted the install was running a long time where my computer usually screems through installs. I left to go get a sandwich. When I returned to the computer there was a message from Norton that the install had failed and I should retry. Which I did. It failed again.

I then noticed the red flag in my tray. When I checked that I found that the install had turned off my existing licensed Norton 360, saying the "free trial had expired". I tried to upgrade from the existing product through Norton software using my new product ID. That Failed. I finally found the old product ID and was able to reactivate my current subscription.

I then went to an XP computer with current version of Norton and tried to load the second copy of Norton 360. Well Norton turned off that licensed copy of 360 and again failed to load the new Premier edition. I know knew how to give it the old ID and turned that Norton on again.

Frustrated I asked the tech to fix this. After messing around with it for a while he said he couldn't figure how to make the software load correctly with old Norton and so he removed the Norton sofware that was on the machines and then loaded the new version successfully. He also told me that this kind of problem with Norton wasn't unusual and that the free anti-virus and utilities that come with Windows do a fine job and there is no reason for someone to purchase Norton.

There is no excuse for distributing software that operates as poorly as this Norton product. I say shame on Symantec and for sure when my current subscription expires I'll be using another suite of security products.
