Could be great, but falls short.Nov 15, 2010
By Fry Boy Generally speaking, this is a relatively good product. It is, however, marred by awful customer support and odd program behaviors (at least with regard to video conversion). For example, when I attempted to convert homemade DVD movies with menus into their full digital counterparts (i.e. with menus), Nero only converted the main movie, despite that fact that it recognized the Chapter locations before conversion takes place. In addition, the DVD conversion frequently (i.e. half the time) stops 1/3 or 1/2 of the way through a DVD, displaying the following message: "There was a problem with DirectShow. The application quit for no good reason." Not especially helpful feedback.

so versitle, it will take 18 months to learn it (or hours for simple things)Mar 01, 2011
By Peteufo Really complex but works really great if your computer is in very good shape. If you have ANY computer issues don't even think about loading this package up as it will seem as if it's not working right and all along it's your pc. Page file size, ram, defraged hard drive, --it all has to be good. If it is then you are in for a treat after you learn how to use it. A true universal package in one box.

Finally Blu Ray playback and seamless syncOct 24, 2010
By Sithlord

I have used Nero off and on for family projects and making memorable videos of gatherings such as birthdays, backyard BBQ parties and such. I was looking for a solution to my hybrid situation re, Mac, PC, android environment... And with affordable smart devices that shoot great HD class videos and hi res pics, the issue of sync ing silos of digital content became a challenge. But with this suite Nero has solved the problem of authoring, editing and publishing AND playing true Blu Ray format. Will repost once I have tried all features, but thus far the install and set up was easy, and the test run sampling was fun to share with friends and family.

Poor Support on Upgrade Problems--UPDATEDNov 01, 2010
By Charles Rose
"Buckeye46"
While this program should be given a 5 star rating; I feel that those customers who already own Nero 10 be aware of potential problems with the HD Upgrade being offered. I pre-ordered the upgrade and received a serial number to activate the HD portion mid-October. There is the problem! The serial number I was sent doesn't save in the Control Center of Nero and doesn't activate the additional HD features. I have sent and received emails for TWO Weeks to Nero Tech Support and get nothing more than instructions on how to install the upgrade. I have followed the directions, installed, uninstalled and re-installed the upgrade about 15 times. It still doesn't work with the serial number I was given. A friend of mine bought the upgrade, and I tried his serial number, and guess what? The HD programs worked! That sort of pinpoints the problem being the serial number that I was given. I told Nero support that the other number worked, and asked them to void the number I was sent, and issue me another number. Their reply was that they don't issue replacement numbers, and once again sent directions on how to install the upgrade. I'm not trying to bash Nero, because I've owned Nero since version 5; but their support stinks. My friend loves the program, and I probably would too, if I had a good number that would make it work. I think the only person they have in Support is Ismael, since every reply that I receive is from him, and all he does is send directions on how to install the upgrade. It seems that if one number works, and the other number doesn't; that it has to be a serial number issue, not installation. Hopefully Nero will read this rating and reply with a way to get my upgrade to work. If they correct the problem, I will update this review in their favor. If not, I'll let it stand the way it is written.
Che at Nero Support contacted me via email and phone today, 11/2/10. He provided a new serial number and it works like a charm, so the product will get a 5 star review. Thanks to Nero for helping straighten this out.

Nero isn't Nero anymore!Feb 28, 2011
By Adam Malik Nero Showtime 9 doesn't work on windows 7 but Nero claims Nero 10 does so I bought Nero 10 Platinum. It was the biggest disappointment I have ever had with software. Nero Showtime had a dial to fast forward or reverse through scenes. The new Nero MediaHub just sucks. 1) They removed the dial to choose speeds to go through videos. Why? Nero Player is just like Windows Media Player. Why? 2) I would copy DVDs to hard drives and play directly in Showtime. MediaHub can play DVDs from hard drive but a DVD has to be in the optical drive so MediaHub can show its DVD Video page. A DVD file can be dragged and dropped on to the optical drive portion and MediaHub will then play it. This is stupid. 3) You can try to play DVDs from the Videos page but it skips menus and doesn't let you choose chapters. This is stupid. 4) Vision Xtra is awful as an editor. I want to simply cut videos and add title cards and captions. Windows Live Movie Maker does that but Nero Vision can't make it simple. Why am I wasting my time learning to use this garbage? 5) Vision Xtra changed the colors of my videos. In playback on another computer and other video players, blues became orange and everything became washed out. I don't have this problem with Windows Live Movie Maker.
There are other problems but I bought Nero for a better player and a better movie editor. Nero is now neither. I haven't tried Burning ROM, which I plan to use, or BackItUp, which I don't plan to use ever.
Nero Showtime used to be the best DVD player. Now Nero MediaHub is like all the rest. The Movie editor, Vision Xtra, is clunky at best. I don't know about the rest of the problems but Vision Xtra has cost me enough time with its problems.
