If you like hot chocolate you have to have this!Sep 21, 2002

This thing makes the greatest hot chocolate and it is so fast and easy. Just add milk and syrup or powdered mix and push the button. They even have marks on the side of the mixing area so you don't need a measuring cup. The hot chocolate is smooth because it is mixed constantly. Even when my mom made it for me as a kid from scratch it never came out this smooth and well mixed. The included recipies are good and fun to try, but we usually go with the super easy milk & Hershey's recipe. My only complaint is that since the main part of the unit is all one peice and it has a cord, you can't submerge it, so cleanup isn't as easy as throwing it all in the sink or dishwasher. That's our only gripe and it's minor. My wife and I live in an area of the country where the winters are really cold and snowy. Cocomotion helps us get through the winter with a much better attitude. I'll be honest. This thing sits in our cupboard from May to September. But from October through April it sees almost daily service. You won't be disappointed with this purchase.

Surprisingly usefulNov 01, 2004

When I received this as a gift from my mother-in-law, my first thought was "Here's another thing that takes up a lot of room and doesn't do much. What are we going to do with that???". After all, we have a microwave to make the hot chocolate.
But I've been pleasantly surprised by this machine. We especially like Mexican Hot Chocolate--the circles of cinnamon flavored-chocolate you break up and stir in warm milk. Ordinarily, we heat the milk and chocolate in the microwave and then use an old fashioned egg beater to mix it up to a froth.
In the cocomotion, I just drop everything in and press the button. A few minutes later, great hot chocolate--just the right temp and mixed perfectly! And only one thing to clean!
My tip for cleaning--pour in some clean water and a little dish soap and turn it on for a minute or so. Then rinse clean.
We are pleased with this machine and using it more often than I ever expected to.

Use it everyday!! Love it! Great for cold winter mornings!Jan 02, 2004
I asked for this and received it for Christmas. This is one of the only gadgets that we have used consistently everyday. I love to make it with the Godiva hot chocolate mix (I think you can only buy the mix in Godiva stores). It is so rich and creamy. You pour in the cold milk, add about three tablespoons of cocoa per cup. The machine hold four cups, and has markers for each cup. Then just turn it on, and in about 2-3 minutes the cocoa is stirred and heated perfectly. It will also reheat and remix the cocoa buy just turning on the "on" button. You cannot submerse it in water to clean it, but there are only three parts to clean. The lid, the little magnetic mixer paddle, and the carafe (which you don't need to submerse, just rinse it out with soapy water).Since I have read that hot cocoa provides the same benefits as a glass of red wine, I don't feel too guilty about downing my two cups a day. It is a good way to get my calcium too. I wasn't expecting to love it as much as I do, so I think I will switch to non fat milk. Nestle hot chocolate powder is good too. If anyone else has some creative ideas or recipes for this wonderful machine, I hope they will list them. I am thinking I will try Ovaltine or Malted Milk and see what happens. All in all, we have used this much more than the smore maker or the pizza maker.

Defective device twiceNov 13, 2003

When we first got the hot chocolate maker, we were delighted with it. The froth was fabulous, and it was so easy to use. However, after about 2 months, the little ball bearings inside the magnetic disc began to come out one by one. I called the 1-800 number listed in the manual, and the customer service representative was very helpful. We received another disc to replace the old one. We used the machine again for about 8 months when we had the same problem. As the machine was no longer in warranty, we continued to use the disc after all the ball bearings were out of it. The machine continued to work, and we didn't taste any difference in the hot chocolate. After a few weeks of using it without the ball bearings, we began to hear a terrible noise, so we discontinued using it. I was really disappointed. We did use the machine almost every day, so I don't know if we used it too much or not. The hot chocolate was wonderful; I just wish the machine would have held out longer.

Perfect Cocoa Every Time!Dec 13, 2005
By Jools1900 I've had this cocoa maker for a couple of years now, and I can't tell you how much I love it. I like to make homemade cocoa mix, which tastes so much better than store bought syrups and mixes to me. The only problem is, my recipes call for unsweetened cocoa- and no matter how long you stir with your spoon, it never wants to disolve! This little machine has no problem with that. I pour everything in there, and it whips it right up- smooth and creamy, and to the perfect temperature, too. Hot, but not scalding. Clean up is easy as well, I just rinse it out and then give it a wipe with a soapy paper towel, and rinse again. Very easy.
I love this little item so much, I'm giving one to each of my family members this year for Christmas. I'm including my favorite cocoa mix as well, and I'll include the recipe here for you too- if you are going to have a cocoa machine, you've got to put something in it besides syrup and milk! Here it is:
3 3/4 cups dry milk powder
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 cup sugar (or Splenda, for great sugar-free cocoa)
1 1/3 cup non-dairy creamer (powdered)
Mix the ingredients in a food processor to blend and break up the chocolate powder. (This also improves it's appearance, better for gifts!) To make cocoa, add 1/3 cup mix to every 2/3 cup water, and let the Cocomotion do the rest. Fabulous!
