... Monadnock makes a 6 inch aluminum version of this "kubotan". It sells for $10-$12. It lacks the high visibility white logo this version has. I have owned the same one for about 16 years and the only wear is on the "knurling" on the ends.

I purchased this polycarbonate version for my wife a few years ago. She likes it because it's a little lighter in weight. I like mine because it's heavier and no standout logo. It's ALWAYS in my hand in parking lots. When I enter a building, I stick it down into my back pocket. I can quickly access it by yanking on my keys.

One major airport would not let us through security with either version.. but that outcome could vary greatly depending on many factors.

The best feature of the Monadnock brand vs. almost every other brand... Is the way in which the actual key *ring* component is attached to the "stick". Most other designs have the ring threaded through the stick. This version it attached directly to the top via a screw and specially designed clasp that swivels. Believe me when I say that matters. The swivel effect is a matter of comfort and convenience. The screw itself must have had "loc-tite" or something applied during assembly. It has never so much as wiggled.

I will say it would serve everyone well to at least watch a "decent" youtube video on, "How to use a kubotan". It's often spelled kubuton or kubaton. After showing my wife how to use this on just two pressure points she had me screaming to let go.

Thanks for reading.

This is a good and very basic product for self defense. It would be worthwhile to have a short instruction book to accompany this product demonstrating and providing some fundementals in basic use.
