Best purchase for my boat yet!Mar 23, 2011

MinnKota must have taken their time engineering this product.
It installs really easily - in under an hour - just drill 4 holes, bolt it on, and run the wire.
It holds great - even in 35 knot winds. The only problem I've had is that in very high wind in 2-3' of water, you have to push the boat back with a pole or the motor to relieve the tension to get it to raise.
Rough Water mode is helpful too, I anchored in 6' of water in 3' chop, and didn't go anywhere.
The remotes work great, it deploys super fast, it shoots straight down, and has a built in alarm to remind you to raise it before you take off.
I'm very pleased with the product!

This MinnKota Talon is an awesome product and works great! Great Quality and very easy to mount. I mounted this on my Nitro Z-7 and it only took about 45 minutes,after the adapter plate was in place. The remotes work great and even come with batteries. I was originally going to purchase a Power Pole,but once I checked in more detail comparing the two units,the Talon is certainly more simplistic and easier to install and I think,just as good quality. Also the fact I received my order in just 2 days from Amazon,was amazing! Wish I would have bought one a year earlier!

I can't speak for the Power Pole because I have never owned one so I can't really compair the two. The Talon was more reasonable in price and Minnkota has a good reputation. So far I am 100% satisfied with the unit. It was very simple to mount, it only took a few minutes to do. I have a 19 foot Champion boat and it holds it with out any problem. Deploys quick enough and with little noise. It is nice to be able to anchor with the Talon when there are no stumps to tie to.
The only thing I don't like is the alarm when the pole is down and the key is turned on to start the big motor. It is not loud enough. You can hear it but if you are not paying attention you will not hear it.

This product does EXACTLY what it is advertised to do. The only complaint we have is that we didn't get it sooner!!!! It was shipped and received quickly. It is very easy to install. GREAT PRODUCT!!!
