great popcornAug 30, 2010 We pop our popcorn in the garage on our laminate workbench and it is great to just walk by and enjoy the popped corn from this popper. The very cool thing is the popcorn actually tastes better after a couple of hours AND the next day popcorn is great, as well. We have popcorn available for snacking at all times with this super popcorn maker.
Help!! My popcorn is ALWAYS soggy.Aug 29, 2010 I have followed directions EXACTLY and no matter what kind of popcorn I use, Great Northern, Orville R, or Jolly Time, the popcorn doesn't come out light and fluffy like it should. I've tried different oils as well. It is always soggy.
The machine seems OK mechanically.
Because of all the rave reviews I've give this a four star because it does seem to function correctly, but maybe doesn't get hot enough or something. I just don't know.
If anyone has any input or solutions to what I'm experiencing I'd sure appreciate an e-mail as the wife and I absolutely love theater popcorn and have been "settling" for less for years. You can mail me at tom77077@gmail.com. If there is a solution to this problem I'll come back and add another star (if it will let me.)
Popcorn MagicAug 05, 2010 We received our Popcorn Popper Machine in excellent condition. It was very well packaged and included all of the stated items and parts. The instruction manual was well written with simple but easy to understand instructions. I had it all put together and ready to operate in just a few minutes. We took a tip from another reviewer and swapped out the light bulb that came in it with a 13W CFL. This did not affect the appearance at all and the popcorn stayed warm and fresh because of the heating element.
We were very excited about trying it out but we had not received all of the other items we had ordered along with the Popcorn Machine so we decided to give it a try with some bags of microwave popcorn that we did have on hand. I used the included measuring cup to measure the contents of the microwave popcorn. This was somewhat messy but we wanted to be sure we weren't using too much popcorn. It turned out to actually be a little less than the full cup. We used the included measuring spoon for the oil to add some coconut oil recommended by some reviewers to the kettle and allowed it to heat as instructed. Then we added the microwave popcorn and waited for the magic to happen. It only took about 30 seconds for the corn to start popping. It popped all but a few kernels. We scooped up a bowl full and drizzled some of the butter topping we had warmed in the microwave over it and then gave it a taste. My husband, teenage son and daughter, and I all agreed that it was every bit as good as what we enjoy at our local theater. The second bag we tried turned out even better. We were somewhat uncertain about using the bags of microwave popcorn and all four of us were amazed at how much better it tasted being popped this way instead of in the microwave.
We already enjoy our home theater tremendously but this addition to our set up just put it over the top. (Now if we could just find a reasonably priced icee machine that works as good as the popcorn machine, we would probably never go to the theater again - well - hardly ever.)
FabulousJul 25, 2010 Performs extremely well, do not waste your money on the cheap ones with the smaller kettles.
This machine is a quality item. Easy to clean, and solid. Would buy again.

Great Home Theater InvestmentMar 14, 2010 We recently expanded our home theater setup and wanted to add an authentic concession experience to the mix. This machine fit the bill perfectly and we're very happy with our purchase.
We find the 4 ounce size to be perfect for two popcorn loving adults, and popping 3-4 batches can more than comfortably accommodate a group of 6-8 adults when we have guests. We like to pop a few kettles worth at once when entertaining, since the warming tray and light do a great job of keeping the popcorn cozy for refills.
The machine is sturdily constructed and super easy to operate and clean. What little assembly is required only takes a couple of minutes and doesn't require any tools.
After a bit of experimenting, we've committed to a combination of 1/2 cup Pop Weaver kernels, 1 tablespoon Wabash Valley Farms Real Theater Popping Oil, 1/2 teaspoon Flavacol salt, and Mor-Gold Plus butter substitute to taste. The result is a batch of impressively authentic tasting theater style popcorn with a very low cost per serving.
