1WorthlessJul 04, 2009
By Ed W.
Can't understand how Roxio could market such an abombination as this Video Lab 10! I have been spending hours trying to make a slide show with extremely disappointing results. First, there is no way to insert a frame mid-sequence. Second, photos can be impotred solely by scanner. It isn't possible to import from a folder. Thirdly, it takes a very long time to "transport" a photo. I had over 100 slides in one sequence I would like to make into a show. This takes hours and hours. Fourthly, the tutorial is next to worthless. It tells of all the grand things this program can do, but hardly a word about how to do them.

I rate this as only one star because there isn't a no-star rating. Roxio is on my forbidden list.

4MyDVD Video Lab 10- Easy and Packed with FeaturesDec 01, 2008
By George O. Huber II "Ilgoatman"
This is a handy program with features enough for anyone who wants to do some serious editing on their home productions. Learning curve is low and anyone who has worked with any other DVD authoring system will take to it like a duck in water. Has some very nice transition effects and some handy pre-programmed pan-and-zoom edits (yes, you can still define your own pan-and-zoom paths, too). Only 3 quibbles: 1. You make all your edits in one application (VideoWave), but then have to go to a separate app (MyDVD) to author your menu and burn your product. 2- It would be easier to do all your audio fades right on the timeline-- but you have to dbl-click the audio portion to do a separate fade edit--kind of awkward for precision cuts 3. To set chapters in your DVD production, you have to set "markers" in Video wave--then you go to MyDVD--then you right click on the production you made in Video wave- then you select "Edit Movie"-- which then goes back to Video Wave-- then you rt-click the markers and select "set as Chapter"--then you return to MyDVD. WHEW!!! Confusing, huh?? You'll never figure that one out on your own!! But, all in all, a great deal for the price (and it STILL beats the heck out of Adobe Premiere Elements!!)

1Impossible to install (Vista)Jul 06, 2008
By Andrew J. Rosen "RdBchAndy"
I can't speak to the quality of the product because I couldn't install it. When the installation failed, I went to the support page, and there were detailed instructions how to remove any traces of past Roxio products (including a registry edit!), it was about 15 steps. I did all the steps (twice), and still couldn't install. I will say the fix did make it hang in a different place in the installation process. I am fairly computer savvy and have NEVER not been able to install a piece of software. I'd stay away.... far away from this product.

Buy some good fireworks instead. Might as well burn your money. Horrible software...that simple. Extremely slow. A simple slideshow takes for ever to render. You would think it was rendering hi-def CGi for Matrix movie. The preview takes for ever to assemble. The installation takes for ever and crashed on me twice. Poorly coded. I wouldn't have given it one star except I had to in order to submit my review.

1Who's on first?Dec 04, 2009
By Robert Simington "Bob"
This may be a great product. It might also be worthless. The problem is that with absolutely no instructions and a disc full of utilities that appear to all do very similar things, you'll never know and so it comes close to being worthless. The trend towards non-documented software works OK if the software is intuitive. But this set of software is not intuitive and there is no guidance available anywhere that I can see - either in the box, on the disk, or out in cyberspace. Too bad, the package looked promising.
