Very sturdy and easy to install, but I strongly recommend installing some sort of very thin shim underneath the "puck." I made the assumption that the bow of my boat was flat and level, but due to the nature of fiberglass boat construction there are very slight undulations (maybe 1/8 - 1/16 inch) on the surface which prevent the motor from resting perfectly flush on the mount. This, in turn, makes it difficult to push the fork/stake through the assembly to secure the motor. But once the fork/stake is pushed through it holds very tight.

The quick release bracket is of very high quality which you expect from Minn Kota. This new style bracket is such a huge improvement on the old slide style it's just not funny. Easy to use and quick and simple to install. Excellent.

I purchased this item to mount my Minn Kota Power Drive V2 trolling motor to my fiberglass 17.5 ft. Fish and Ski boat. It bolted right up to my motor and installation was easy. Make sure you mount it on a level surface, as I did, and you won't experience the problems with inserting the fork handle, as others had. I would have given five stars, but the fork handle itself is cheaply made. If you don't insert the handle by gripping both sides and applying even pressure, it will come apart. I fixed it with some heavy duty adhesive, but I think they could have come up with a better design.

This Minn Kota quick release is excellent. It is very simple but effective. Takes only a couple of seconds to remove your Minn Kota trolling motor from your boat. The freight cost to Australia through Amazon is much cheaper than other suppliers.
