A JOKE!Dec 30, 2010

"naturally sweet"
This product is a complete joke, as is the Mac Version. My sons laptop was stolen and we thought we would at least get the 99.00 back that this box said we would get back if our laptop wasn't found.
No such luck. Complete false advertising. A total waste of money! Tell your friends to never buy this product!

Do Not BuyMar 28, 2011
By Art I had this installed for 3 years without issue. However, after having a password issue with my account, I have received less than stellar support. Wait, that is not fair. To have received support, some effort must have been made. They have made none.
I've tried web support to no effect. I've tried the phone to no resolution. 877 number for Absolute told me to redial and choose another option. What option? They didn't know. Then someone told me to contact Digital River and called them, they referred me back to the folks that told me to call them. 90 minutes on the phone and I'm now submitting a dispute via my credit card company.
I would agree with another users comment. All their funds are put into marketing alone.

Reject any computer with this software!!!May 03, 2011
By Jenn Goodland I have no doubt that LoJack for Laptops is effective... if your computer actually gets stolen. But the software also issues false positives to your machine on occasion, sometimes system-wide. If this happens, you are locked out of your own laptop... and the LoJack customer support is difficult to get in touch with, keeps you in hold for hours at a time, and if you finally DO get in touch with someone, they "escalate" and promise to "call you back tomorrow." Meanwhile, until they decide to actually fix your problem, you have a bricked laptop. Hope you don't need it for work!
Note that this bricking happens WHETHER OR NOT you are an active customer. Even if you deactivate the software, the LoJack software can STILL brick your computer until LoJack decides to get off their butts and make it work again. If you've bought a computer secondhand with LoJack, and the software decides suddenly that you're a thief, guess what? You're not the old account holder, so your laptop is now useless and customer service does not work with you. The only possible way to escape LoJack is to completely remove all traces of the software from your BIOS, which I recommend everyone do. This is bad, bad software.

Great ideaApr 27, 2009
By K. Curtis I bought this after reading in the newspaper about a local woman whose home was burglarized. They caught the guy because she had this software on her laptop. I went straight to Amazon.
When your laptop is stolen, you call the company and they work with law enforcement to track down the laptop, which is sending them its gps location via email. Yes, the new "owner" has to get on the internet, but they will get on the internet. I was a little dissapointed to see that I won't be getting the location myself. But I guess they don't want to encourage vigilantism.
The software somehow works even if they re-format your computer. This stuff is ingenius. I love the idea of a laptop thief broadcasting his location.

Terrible Customer SupportMay 05, 2011
By Frank P I purchased this item to renew a prior subscription that had expired. Program did not install correctly and it took me days to try to get a customer service rep. on phone after they didn't respond to my e-mail. They say that they have 24 hr phone support but when I called at 1:30am, hoping not to be placed on permanent hold, they were closed. I serious question how quickly they would respond to a report of a stolen computer. Would not buy again.
