Old technology in a new box, save your moneyMar 09, 2010
By D. Owens This basically comes with four separate games on four CDs. They don't work together with one another at all. All of these you have to install, but you still need the CD-ROM to run any of them. Three of the CDs look and feel like they are from the 90's with terrible graphics, slow responses, and the CD-ROM spinning up and down between each click. These 3 CDs were so unresponsive, my 3.5 year old daughter got frustrated because it took too long to respond to her clicks. The last CD is a newer technology 3D game like you find online on their site. This game is decent and has some neat games, but it took about 3 hours of play (not all at once of course) for my 3.5 year old to finish all the objectives and for it to then tell her to get her parents to go on-line to pay for a membership to play more. It's almost like a demo or trial version of the game.
Save your money and buy something which will keep your kids learning for a long time and which is not a repackage of old software.

Do not buy unless you feel like giving Jumpstart your personal info.Dec 19, 2010
By D-Day The game won't let you install it until you sign onto the internet and give your email, name, and mailing address, and then it tries to keep selling you stuff once it has your information. The game itself isn't very responsive or modern, despite the "new for 2010" sticker on the box. The other reviewer is right that you have to use the CDs, which means you can't let the kids use the nice, otherwise handy, child-size netbook to play. Total waste of money.

Gateway to video game addictionDec 21, 2011
By Another Reader This game seems to me more like a way to get your kid addicted to video games than to educate them. My toddler already knew the stuff that we've been able to access on this game so far. But, didn't know how to use the computer features well enough to play the game without my help. So, the idea is that we spend a lot of time playing games on the computer which only review those things that she has known forever and don't teach new material - but we have to spend a lot of time fiddling around with the mouse and figuring out how to navigate the screens. Many of the games have no apparent educational function at all. The focus is on low-content, short attention span producing ENTERTAINMENT instead of education.
If you want to use the computer to educate your child, try a site like "starfall" or "softschools" On the other hand, if you want a video game addict, try this one.
Garbage! Most of the game is locked and you can play unless you pay!!!May 11, 2012
By sara rose Do not make the mistake of purchasing this software. The playable parts of the game are meager with a much larger "ask your parents for a membership" carrot dangling in front of our kids. There are six worlds, and only one can be unlocked without a membership. Any three year old could finish the first world within 2 hours. There are six books to read, and only one is unlocked without a membership. After these two achievements are completed, your kids are told to ask YOU for a membership at JumpStart.com.
My daughter was sooooooo sad that she couldn't go to the other worlds. I'm pretty sure this company counts on her reaction to compel parents to send money.
Pretty awesomeMar 09, 2012
By CJ This set is pretty awesome. I was amazed that my 3 yr old granddaughter spent 2 hrs the first night after we installed it. She is learning to use the mouse quite well, although she didn't seem interested in the disk where you learn how to use the keyboard. I'm hoping she will change her mind because it would be really awesome for her to learn to type at such a young age...
