5We love the Jumpstart SeriesOct 07, 2009
By Early Childhood Specialist and Homeschooling Mom "Mindy"
We are a homeschooling family. The Jump start series has been wonderful. My three children are all working above grade level and love to learn. I just purchased the Jump start 4th and 5th grade and I am happy to say that finally something is challenging my kids.

2Continuous CrashesOct 08, 2010
By seekinggoodbuys
I have received the blue screen of death everytime I attempt to open this product. If your operating system runs on Windows 7, be prepared to hold down the shift key everytime you want to open this program.

Nevertheless, I was expecting a more interactive tutor-type software, where lessons were taught and afterwards my child would apply what she had learned to the subsequent games that followed. Not the case at all. I have to help my child consistently to ease her frustrations which arise from her not knowing the answers to most of the questions in all of the subjects. And even at a level 1, the questions, to me, were very difficult.

I sense more frustration in the future as the game progresses and coupled with the continuous crashes I am afraid she will therefore lose interest in this program.

1"Sucks!" is too kindMar 31, 2010

There needs to be a "no star" rating. There is no way to move back and forth between levels if your kid cannot finish them. If you cannot finish the Mah Jong level - not because of math skills but because the tiles don't line up - you have no choice but to do it over again. You cannot progress otherwise.

Both my wife and I are very computer savvy - I design databases for fun - and this software is beyond salvage. The authors should be forbidden to write software. The positive reviews were written by company stooges who never used the product. We want our $15 back plus the hours of our lives we wasted on this sadistic product.

5Really loving this game!Jun 05, 2010
By Amylyn Reynolds
I got this for my 8 year old son to use during the summer before 3rd grade. I figured it might be a little hard but was hoping that with the different levels it would be challenging but not too frustrating for him. It's been great. I admit, it doesn't have the cool graphics or interactive interface that the jumpstart worlds have, but my son loves it and it's been really great practice in all areas. I had to help him learn some of the math concepts (how to simplify fractions, rules for rounding large numbers, etc.) but now he's doing it all on his own. The geography section is pretty hard too, and it would be awesome if there was something they could click on for a hint, but with a little patience he's been learning lots of cool facts and is learning great geography. Overall, definitely a great value (although as I'm writing this my son just said he thinks he beat the game, and we've only had it a week . . . =-)

5A review from our fourth-graderSep 05, 2010
By C. Armstrong
This game is about the right level for most 4th graders. I do happen to ask my parents for hints sometimes. The only problem is that the geography game is hard. Most other games I enjoy. If you have a 4th grader, I reccommend you buy this for him/her.
