Personally I loved this unit its lots of fun, while it may not replace piano lessons its a great way to start.
Its a great activity for your family and is a very good investment in my mind. Its worth noting too this also works with any midi music app on the app store. So when you have learned all you can from the included app you can use it as a cool controller for your favorite music apps. All this for such a cheap price I think this is a great gift.

And return shipping is not free!!! The unit is a joke, not even good for my 9 years old. The keys are way too small and the software is very limited. The target of the product supposed to be used by beginner, but i really don't see how the software going to help and the songs are too complicated for beginner... The video instruction from appstore is good, but hey... u can download the software free now and watch the video and practice it on a real full size casio...

This is an excellent device! No, it won't turn you into a concert pianist, and it may not inspire a non-musician. But if you really want to add piano to your repertoire, it's an excellent way to start. Rather than spending hours playing Angry Birds, why not learn some chords, and learn to navigate your way around a keyboard? It sounds good and is portable. Good for kids (not too much money invested) as well as adults.

I bought the Piano apprentice for my son for his birthday. He figured out how to get it going by himself and it kept him occupied for a good two hours right out of the box. I actually had to take it away so he would be able to go to sleep. after a couple more sessions I noticed that he was actually learning how to play! He now plays the baby grand in our house and keeps getting better. I was very impressed!

I purchased this product and really love it. I first tried it out to see how i would like learning the piano. After a couple weeks it's really helping me get the basics down and is a great teaching tool. Best of all i can do it on my schedule. I sometimes work odd hours so this is very important for me. I recommend. Oh, and it's actually FUN to use too. I am going to get one for my nephew too...he came over last week and loved it.
