Garbageware turns your Mac into a Windows PCJul 31, 2010
By Dr. Sam Beckett
"Hoping for that last leap home"
The three components I attempted to use were the Spam Barrier, Personal Backup, and of course Virus Barrier.
Spam Barrier overrides OS X Mail's perfectly good "Junk" mail filtering with its own overly aggressive system that is set to block almost everything (including Amazon and NewEgg e-mail order acknowledgements), while interfering with your mail providers' "Spam" mail folders.
Personal Backup, when set to full "clone" mode, sometimes backups the Mac's hard drive and sometimes doesn't. When it does, it may or may not back up the whole drive. This may depend on the phase of the Moon; I haven't tested that yet.
The Virus Barrier is the worst offender. Its obtuse, non-intuitive, overly layered setup is outweighed only by its ridiculously aggressive scanning and network traffic monitoring. Don't expect innocuous items like thumb drives, disk image (DMG) files, or iTunes Store access to work without a lot of manual intervention - in fact, you have to create so many exceptions to the "rules," that it obviates the need for this virus checker in the first place.
As a final PC-like indignity, attempting to uninstall this Intego product is a chore, given its Windows-like littering all across your HD with Intego preferences, documents, and the like.
This is going back, and I'll try the free ClamXAV a try. It can't be any worse!

Very easy to use and easily customizableSep 09, 2010
By Corky I've owned Intego's products for a few years and I think this new version is the best they've put out. This program is extremely customizable you can make the rules as loose as you want or as tight as you want, you can have it alert you on anything suspicious or just handle things behind the scene. The reason why some people get frustrated is they don't try to customize it to what they want from it or they just don't understand how to so they are stuck with the factory's presets. The only thing I don't like is that every year you have to pay to renew your subscriptions. I can see why they do it probably for R&D but when I pay for a product I don't want to keep paying every year.
If you download a bunch of things then you need protection. If you don't think bad things happen to good Macs this is not true since my friend just lost all of his files on his huge external hard drive and it kept deleting files every time he would put files in his drive. He had to erase his disk completely for it to stop. Good thing was it only affected that hard drive and his 4 other hard drives weren't touched.
If you want to protect your Mac this is the best one out there, I wouldn't buy anything else.

not a fan of this productJun 13, 2011
By Scott Jon Leibow
"ScottJo"
I bought it since my make is connected 24/7, so i thought it would be good to make sure it is protected against virus
the program is slow, i did a full system scan
it is hard to un-install as well.
i get so many errors sometimes and other times I dont, like it works, and then doesnt work.
I am not running it currently, i kind of feel like i wasted the money

Poorly written softwareJan 30, 2012
By Steve I purchased Virus Barrier 6 for Mac Lion. The firewall component does not perform according to the presets in the configuration panels. Even though I had it set up for unrestricted access, it still wanted to block connections within computers in my home.

Great piece of kit for your MacSep 09, 2010
By Macomacotic I have just bought this software for my Macbook pro after 3 months of research. I found this software to be easy to set up and use. ''After completing a total system scan, I found it to be relatively slow however it did not effect any of my other programs that I was running simultaneously. The anti spam software is useful if you use push email.''I believe whether you are using your Mac privately or for business, this software is a must for computer security.'' Hope you find this useful.
