Great dealNov 21, 2009

"REM"
I have had two WalMart fog machines. They both worked reasonably well, for the price, but neither machine lasted longer than two years. I used them at home, not commercially. I was tired of dealing with the WM machines and did research on machines built by companies that specailze in fog machines for commercial use. This one fit for me. It was priced just slightly higher than the retail store machines shipping was free! It arived in about a week and it kicks but in the fog department. Puts out plenty of fog, is very quiet and the fog juice tank even lights up. I used it a few times over the last few weeks and I really like it. I had no problem totally filling my whole living room up with fog so thick I literally could not see through it. Good customer support from Chauvet as I called with a few questions. So we will see how long this one lasts but if you want an economical fog machine at a reasonable price this is a good one to look into.
Update 10-2011. I have had the machine for 3 years. I only use it a few times a year around Halloween so it doesn't get heavily used. I pulled it out of storage last night for the first time in a year and it still works fine! I can fill up a 1200sqft house with fog so thick you can't see through it. Most of the other reviews comment on outside performance. I agree, a bigger machine is needed. If you want to use this outside, you will be disappointed. It's not made for that. To get around the timmer issue, I just tape the "push" button down on the control that comes with it and it cycles on and off just fine. This is a capable and reliable machine. If and when it goes, I'd buy another one in a heartbeat. Looks like it has even come down in price!

Low volume fog outputMar 21, 2010
By David Cunningham We purchased this unit to manufacture smoke for a student show. It takes a few minutes to warm up before generating smoke. The smoke stops when you turn it off. We used flexible, plastic dryer hose to direct the smoke away from the machine (and where the operator was sitting).
Note that the effect works like fog, which hugs the ground and not like smoke from a chimney, which should rise. But this was acceptable for our purposes. We hope to use it again for future productions. But if it only worked the one time, it was worth the cost for the effect.

Dead on arrival, manufacturer doesn't answer phoneOct 15, 2010
By Bill This worked for a total of about 4 seconds, giving one good blast of fog, then nothing. I let it preheat, the Ready light comes on, I push the "Fog" button, and it makes noise but no fog.
The seller referred me to the manufacturer, but Chauvet does not answer their phone, even at mid-day on a business day; after a LONG wait they transfer you to voice mail where you can leave a message but they don't call you back.
Do not buy this expecting to get something that works!

Not so greatNov 02, 2010
By TenFive I bought this fog machine based on specs and reviews, but it did not get the job done. Weak output and long cycle times gave an underwhelming performance.

AcceptableNov 01, 2010
By Nancy L. Hanna Purchased this machine instead of cheap lower powered machine from Walmart. Somewhat disappointed. The machine did not create a large volume of smoke. Used for Halloween effects on front porch and although there was no wind blowing fog away it would not created enough of a fog to give us the scary effect we were looking for. Might be better if it was used indoors. Machine works fine just not much fog.
