A must have.Jun 02, 2011
By Matt Vayda I've been using one of these for a couple months now on a 32 oz. Nalgene bottle.
This was a recommended item when I was looking at water bottles, and I can see why. I liked the idea of the 32 oz. reusable BPA free Nalgene bottle, but I held out for quite a while because I could see myself dumping half it's contents down my front if I wasn't careful. One of these pretty much takes care of that problem. I say pretty much because unless it is positioned precisely even with the lip of the bottle, it can leak a bit when you go to take a drink. It's nothing too bad, but I have gotten a few drops down my front when it wasn't positioned properly. Not a deal breaker. It has never completely slipped and wound up bouncing around in the bottle itself. The silicone (don't quote me on that) hold it in place pretty well.
I should also clarify something else for potential buyers; the large hole in the photo is not the drinking hole, that's the one for air to get in, or to refill your bottle without removing it. You drink from the beveled cutout opposite it. At first I was worried that it would not allow for good flow, but that was quickly put to rest. If you can drink faster than it can pour it out, my hat's off to you, but it's fine for me.
Cleaning is easy enough; push it into the bottle, add water and a few drops of dish cleaner, shake, rinse, refill. I can't say about putting in the dishwasher, but I guess you could.
Overall I'm very happy with it, and recommend it to anyone with, or looking to get, a wide mouth water bottle. As far as I'm concerned these should come with the bottles they fit in the first place.

Best Splash Guards AroundMar 26, 2010

"the mad scientist"
I've used one of these in a 750 ml Camel Back bottle and a 1 L Nalgene bottle, and it works great in both. I've also given several of these as gifts and they work much better than the hard plastic versions, as the flexible silicone is easier to push in and out and creates a better seal by molding itself to the opening of the bottle. I've never had any problems with taste or smell, as the material they are made from seems pretty neutral. Overall these are excellent.

Fits 32oz Nalgene bottle, not 16ozAug 02, 2010
By Crimson X Bought it thinking that it'll fit my 16oz Nalgene bottle, since the product is for "wide mouth" bottles, and Nalgene calls its 16oz bottles "wide mouth". Unfortunately, it doesn't fit, will have to return it.

Nice but you'll keep looking...May 05, 2011

"woo hoo!"
This splashguard is nice. Keeps the ice back and somewhat meters your drink so you can drink more comfortably. You'll have to wash it once in a while or it will start to smell. But I think the best solution for the wide-mouth bottles is another product: the humangear capCap. It will give you both wide-mouth and narrow mouth options. Best of both worlds. Not to take anything away from this solution, but when the bottle cost 10 bucks and you start adding options ($$$), it's good to know all of them before you start making the purchase more expensive. Good Luck.

By jondoe I like the design, the smiley face is cool. The material is not so good, leaves an after taste. I use this one on occasion, but use the other plastic one most often.
