The 5" square is a classic in quilting. This template takes all of the guess work and pain out of cutting fabric.

I bought the Accuquilt cutting system, and this was the first die I bought. I wanted to be able to make my own charm squares, ones that would be the same size as the prepackaged ones. It worked fine. The Accuquilt stuff by nature is less efficient use of fabric - there is waste (as versus a rotary cutter), but there's total accuracy - no ruler slips, no mis-measurements.
