3Decent low-priced basic video cardDec 14, 2011

The only reason I'm writing a review is to alert others to the issue I encountered with this card. I have a low-profile computer with a PCIe slot, and what I needed was a low-end video card with a VGA (blue) port. From the description, this sounded like it would work. However, when I got it, I realized that for a low-profile installation, you needed to actually install in TWO of the exterior slots: the one that belongs to the PCIe slot itself, and the one to its right, as seen from the outside. Unfortunately, my system didn't have a slot to the right -- all the spare ports were to the left, and it made it impossible to install with a VGA port showing. I ended up keeping it and buying an adapter to change the digital (white) port into a VGA outlet, but it added $15 to the price. I wish the specs had made that clear before I ordered, or that they'd figure out a way to use the port to the left as well as to the right, if you need to.

4It's almost everything they say it is.Nov 07, 2011

From the information provided by Amazon, you think your getting a video card with 512 MB of memory, but instead your getting one with 256 MB. It will use up to 256 MB of main memory if you go over the 256 MB mark. This comes with additional software from MSI to over clock the card, but none of it works in Windows 7.

Over all, it is doing fine. I have a app on my desktop that shows me what the GPU is doing, and most of the time it's not doing much except when I'm in a game. I don't have a HDTV so I can't test the HDMI, but from what software drivers installed indicate, the card is it's own sound device for the HDMI port. So, when I do hook up a HDTV to the computer, all the sounds will go thru that port instead.

Other then that, it is a good starter video card.

5Amazing card for the price!Oct 03, 2011

This is a wonderful starter card. If you're not looking to do hardcore gaming then this will work beautifully for all your casual gaming needs.

Amazon says this card has 512MB of memory, and so does the box, but they just use the same box for 2 models of the card (see the fine print). This one actually comes with 256MB. It works nicely with my 1920x1200 monitor, but it does not do games, period. I tried it on several games and even on 800x600 resolution it struggled to produce 20 FPS. If you need one for an office computer, this will do, but if you have any visual requirements stay away.

Other NVIDIA 8000 series cards can hold their weight. I understand this was not built to be a big performer, but I'd recommend something else.
