2Wilton fondant toolsJan 05, 2010

I only can give this product one star because it falls so very short. They used to sell the green set and it was so much better. This one has sprue marks on the tools because they were cast poorly which means that you must carefully sand them off. This leaves the tool with a satin finish instead of a glossy finish and it drags a bit. On delicate flower petals this is sure death! The quilting tool (little wheeled one) is awful and doesn't even rate a star! The blue and green cell pens are not silky like the silicon ones that are white and they are the wrong size, one too big and one not big enough. The metal spatula, actually a pallet knife in the art world, is way too thick to be of much use to get under thin rose petals. The case is nice and the handles are wonderful but over all, not a good investment at full price!!! Look for the older green set they used to market. By the way, the Ateco blue set has most of the same prolems! BAD SPRUE marks. Poor tools make your work even more difficult and your time and frustration can't be replaced!!

In general, I like this product. 7 of the tools are double-ended, so it's like you are getting 14 instruments, plus the 3 single sided ones. Included are instructions and examples of how to use the tools. The instruction sheet folds flat enough for you to keep it inside the tool box. The tool box itself is flat and sturdy; and the tools snap securely into the slots. Each tool is color coded and numbered.
The reason that I gave it only 3 stars is because one of the tools, the cutting/quilting wheel did not roll smoothly, and when I went to clean it, the wheels came off. ( I was only able to find one.) That particular wheel was quite small, and I have a bigger one, so that was no big loss to me, but someone that doesn't have a lot of tools at their disposal, might want to consider this.
I still think that this is a better bargain than buying the tools individually.

5Good buyFeb 10, 2009

Good little toolkit for the money. It contains all the basic pieces needed for modeling. I'm a beginner at gumpaste modeling myself, so I don't know if this kit contains everyone one would need for more advanced techniques, but I believe this kit will be quite adequate for some time. I've seen other tools online, made of other materials, such as metal/wood, but there are more expensive. This plastic kit will do the job just fine, at least until (or if) I move on to more advanced modeling.

1Not good quality!!Feb 05, 2011

I totally agree with Jauquetta!! Only I'd rate it 1 STAR!! There are sprue marks. I even have a tool with a black stain on it??? I think this tool set from this supplier is a factory 2nd because when I saw it at a cake decorating shop they looked more impressive than the set that I have ordered. I would have returned this set if I hadn't shipped it in from overseas!! Yes there are sprue marks on all of the tools, the wheelie tool is not even smooth or perfectly circular and overall they do look cheap because the colour wand does not look like it has a nice 'finish.' Don't waste your money!!! Go to a cake shop or buy from an online supplier near you so if you have any problems you can easily exchange!! CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP QUALITY!!! Believe the bad comments because they are so true!!!

2Wilton could've spent a few more bucks for better qualityOct 11, 2010

There are casting lines on the tools which means they don't always move over the gumpaste smoothly. I'll be replacing these with real metal tools, but I've learned my lesson that Wilton does not care about its customers as much as fleecing them with lousy products.
