2Flimsy Scale with Inaccurate and Unreliable WeighingJun 27, 2007
By S. Blackburn "Seth"
Pros:

1. Soft mat to stand on.

2. Nice colors with a low-profile design.

3. The black mat where your feet go is 9 1/2 inches, and from top to bottom in the center of where each foot would step is 12 inches, including plastic and mat.

Cons:

1. This is a flimsy scale made entirely of plastic. The scale itself weighs about 3 pounds. You must be sure to keep your feet towards the outer parts of the black mat, as the center bends very easily, and makes groaning noises. This happens with weights as little as 10 pounds.

2. The digital read-out is not as pictured. It is large; however, it is a normal LCD screen with a grey background and black numbers, not a black background with white numbers.

3. I, too, did the actual weights on the scale test. The scale was always off, reporting weights from 0.2 to 5 pounds off for the same actual weight, placed in the same position, over and over again.

4. If you need an accurate, reliable scale, this is not the one to buy, especially at this price. The lackluster performance, reliability, and design of this electronic scale makes it highly over-priced.

Commenter's Note: Unlike some of these 5 stars reviews, I am actually purchased this scale and own it. In addition, I am not paid or benefited for this review. Please note that of the 9 reviews: 6 are 5 stars reviews with only ONE having a REAL NAME badge. 3 are one and two star reviews, and all 3 of those have REAL NAME badges.

I am not happy with this scale, and wanted to share the reasons with anyone wishing to purchase it. I wish you happy shopping and hope that you do find the perfect scale for you!

1Poor quality and not even close to accurate...Aug 20, 2008
By MikeTMC
I purchased the product and am quite disappointed.

As noted- it is very flimsy plastic and feels like it is bending in half when used.

It is impossible to get accurate readings from the scale- there is often a *5 POUND* variance between consecutive weigh-ins. You have to weigh yourself multiple times and average the results to even get a clue which number is accurate.

I have even tested it with known quantity cast iron weights and found it to be off.

I purchased it becasue of the Salter name brand. I will not make that mistake again. I have since replaced this unit with another brand of scale.

1Bad scaleMay 13, 2007
By J. A. Ruiz-escalante
This is a very unreliable scale. It will give me three different readings in less than five minutes, and the difference will be over 5 pounds.

2very flimsyApr 05, 2007

I don't understand how this thing got positive reviews or why it costs more than $20. I've stood on all kinds of scales over the years and none have ever been as flimsy as this. It feels like cheap plastic that I'm going to flex in 1/2. Everything flexes very much when I stand on it, including the LCD panel. I'd be more understanding if I weighed anything near it's 400 lbs capacity but I'm only 1/2 of that. Looking forward to sending this back for a full refund. If I were to keep it I suspect it would be only a matter of time before it breaks in 1/2. I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 because even though it flexes way too much it does seem accurate.

1defective?Jun 29, 2008
By Julie A. Reimer
The digital number at the far right is already partially disappearing in less than one month of home use. I tried to contact the company via their web site and it says their website is temporarily unavailable due to essential updates. I was initially impressed with the product but I am wondering how long the other numbers will show up. The instruction manual says that the scale has a lithium battery installed to provide extra long energy life for the scale and that under heavy usage such as a health club that the batteries may eventually need to be replaced. I gave this as a gift to my father on 6/7/08 and it already is showing a problem. (6/28/08)
