Do not buy Dr., Seuss KindergartenJan 31, 2007
By DAVID VANVALKENBURG Do not buy Dr. Seuss Kindergarten unless you want to spend hours feeling like a fool for not being able to install it. Turns out that no one with Windows XP can, even though both the product description and the initial installation screens say you can. I called tech support and got a recording telling me to call back during business hours. When I called back during business hours, I got another recording saying there was no tech support for retail customers!

If I could give it a 0 I would...Jul 06, 2006

I purchased this title based on box screen shots and the fact that the copyrights were recent on the box and it said it was compatible with Windows XP. Unfortunately as others have stated (and I have only read now) it will not run on my configuration of XP (SP2, full patches/updates). I have a high-end Pentium-IV computer w/1 GB of RAM and it will not run and it is unsupported by the company. Compatability mode gets me nowhere. I'm pretty P.O.'d and cannot recommend that anyone buy this product.

This title DOES work on XP, don't stress!Feb 11, 2008
By Aussie Girl The educational benefits have been pointed out by others, I just wanted to put people's mind at ease that this title WILL work on XP. You may need to use the Program Compatibility Wizard or you may need to get offline and close your anti-virus, anti-spyware, pop-up blockers and other assorted rubbish that starts up with your PC as they cause software conflicts, stopping some software from being able to be installed. I came across an issue with one particular graphics card where it played it upside down, but Googled a quick fix and have never looked back. I have tested it on 5 separate desktops with success.
Only laptops could have legitimate issues with installation, but desktops should be fine if one of the above suggestions are used. Laptops are notoriously problematic with games, frankly they are not designed for them - they are mostly used for business apps, email and the Internet.

Won't run on XP - no support!Dec 17, 2004

I just bought 14 educational software games for my young kids and all but this one run, as promised, on Windows XP. Don't buy this game; as of the date of this review, their website states that there is no longer any support for this software. I didn't pay a lot, but I wouldn't have paid a dime if I'd known it wouldn't run even once! It is also a major disappointment for my kids which is the exact opposite of our intended result for Hanukah! (Instead, go for Pajama Sam, any of the many wonderful Jumpstart titles, and our favorite, The Magic Schoolbus series!)

10-year-old software incompatible with Windows XPJun 28, 2008
By nebulous1 This software was published in 1998, written for Windows 3.1. The setup has been slightly modified to install on Windows 95. It forces installation of an old version of QuickTime for Windows 3.1, and will only run at a screen resolution of 640 x 480 pixels. My 15" laptop LCD screen is 1024 x 768 pixels, so this runs only on a 9" diagonal section of the screen. Since it was not written for XP, plan on letting your kindergartener run with admin privileges, as it's the only way this software will run, if you can ever get it to install. It was nice that the publisher took the time to update the box with claims that it's XP-compatible. It would have been nicer if they had actually spent a few hours updating the software so that it actually was XP-compatible.
