Great RadioJan 30, 2012
By Mindy's Mom I love this little radio. I use it in an interior room where we have had reception trouble with other electronics. This is a perfect size; it feels sturdy; setting stations is easy; the volume is good; the display is easy to read. And it's really nice that you can either use batteries or plug it in (I keep it plugged in to save on batteries). It is a good value that I highly recommend.

Best Portable Radio I've Ever OwnedFeb 26, 2012

I am old school in that I spend a lot of time listening to broadcast radio. I purchased the Sangean PR-D7 BK after my Grundig Emergency radio decided to lose its AM reception. There was no buyers remorse here and the unit deserves all the positive ratings you are reading about it. The sound is excellent. The tuning is accurate. The presets are handy and the reception is the best I have seen. FM stations that I had trouble with before come in loud and clear, and the AM sensitivity is amazing. The only thing I would add if I could would be a handle to allow it to be truly portable, but that is minor. The unit has an AC adapter, which is a help with battery life, especially since the instructions state that the 6 alkalines it takes to power it will last 38 hours (I guess you lose a bit when you get this kind of quality). If that isn't enough for you, the radio has a built-in battery re-charger for Ni CAD batteries which is a big plus. There are clock functions that are of no interest to me, but will please some. All-in-all, it was a great purchase which you should feel confident to make.

Great little radioFeb 14, 2012

This is a very nice little radio. The features are outstanding, it seems to have strong reception, the digital tuner works well, and the sound quality is much better than I expected from a little portable. I was using my Freeplay eyemax emergency radio as a general purpose portable, but it doesn't pick up NPR. I also have an RCA boombox that is terrible - it uses 6 D batteries and goes through them very, very quickly, which is very costly. The batteries even drain when the machine is completely off. I can't overstate how expensive that gets. Now that I have this radio, I put the Freeplay back in the emergency kit and tossed the RCA out. This Sangean takes 6 AA batteries, but the best part is that if you put NiMH rechargeables in it, the wall adapter will charge the batteries right in the radio. Do notice that there's a switch under the battery cover that you have to set to either "rechargeable" or "alkaline". And, if you're using rechargeable, you should make sure that the batteries are all the same capacity, and from the same manufacturer if possible. Additional nice features are alarms (both radio and beeper), backlight for the display, and station preset buttons. This isn't the cheapest thing out there, but I seldom mind paying for products that do what they're supposed to do. IMO this is a good value. I prefer the black color (also comes in white) but it does seem to pick up fingerprints easily. If you need a good small portable radio, this is a good choice.

Bad speakerMar 29, 2012
By Victor F. Mastrandrea The speaker vibrates when you listen to talk radio. You are better off buying a radio with two speakers. It is decent.

unacceptable am receptionApr 21, 2012

I purchased this Sangean PR-D7 BK radio based on the write up which extolled its am reception capability. However, the radio does not even have marginal am capability. So much so, that I am going to return it for a more powerful am receiver even if it costs more money. This has to be theworst am reception radio that I have ever owned. SemperFi
