Hannah Montana Washburn 3/4 size guitarDec 19, 2008
By Walter Lau I've been playing guitar for 30 years, and I'm very impressed with this guitar! The neck is very similar to my San Dimas Charvel (no kidding!) in that it's very slim and low profile. Perfect for little hands. My daughter is 7 and she loves this guitar. I plugged it in to my Marshall Vintage Modern and was amazed at the pro sounds I was able to coax out of it. The pickups are wired so that when the switch is in the middle, the pickups are out of phase and it sounds like a wah wah pedal cracked half-way open a-la Michael Schenker. The pickups do not sound like single coils although they appear to be. I replaced the tuning keys with some grovers, but other than that, this thing rocks. I might even buy one for me!

Probably the best beginner guitar I've ever seenJun 06, 2009
By J. Cox I got this for my 7 year old daughter. I play guitar and own several Rickenbackers, so I know high quality instruments. This little guitar is great for what it is! Let me compare where it will differ from a pro guitar: The neck is unfinished wood. For me, that was the most disappointing thing about this instrument, but can be easily fixed. The edges of the frets are not "dressed" (finished smooth) like a more expensive guitar. There is a little buzz somewhere I haven't located yet - it's not fret buzz. I think it is a bridge adjustment issue. But all of these things are minor issues. I plugged this thing into my pedalboard and amp and it holds its own on sound. It does not sound cheap in any way. And even to a veteran guitar player, this is a very playable guitar. My main issue with beginner level guitars is they are set up so poorly that even someone who knows what they are doing gets frustrated, so a beginner even more so - plus beginner instruments usually sound like one. This is a happy exception to the rule. It is very, very playable and sounds just fine. Buy it with confidence. It will need a case or gig bag, which will set you back as much or more than the guitar, but it deserves to be protected when not being played. This is NOT a toy guitar by any standard - it is an instrument capable of playing music.

Best Junior Guitar For The Price AnywhereAug 20, 2009

I've been playing well built electric guitars for the last 15 years. When my 8 year old daughter was interested in picking up electric guitar I wanted to get her something that had some quality but at the same time wasn't expensive enough for me to kick myself if she quickly lost interest.
This guitar is built solid and has a surprisingly good tone. The neck is solid, the body has a good weight and the pickups aren't half bad. I'm going to list the only problems I had with the guitar but, regardless of those issues, for the price and overall quality I seriously recommend this guitar to any young aspiring guitarist.
The downsides: It came shipped fairly out of whack in respect to intonation and fret buzz (which isn't uncommon with any guitar being handled by a shipping company). The pick-up selector switch's plastic knob didn't want to stay on. The upside: It's fully adjustable so the intonation and fret buzz can be fixed rather quickly. It even comes with the proper alum wrenches for the truss rod and bridge. It's fairly simple but if you're wary of adjusting these items you'll want to add in the cost of set up at your local guitar store or person. Regarding the pick-up selector switch knob, with a quick drop of glue that was also repaired painlessly.

Best value for the priceJul 25, 2009
By A. Peffers Purchased for $55 including shipping from Sam Ash, an Amazon retailer. I ordered the item on a Saturday morning; the item arrived well packaged the following Wednesday. I bought the guitar for my seven 1/2 year old daughter. It is her first electric guitar.
The guitar was in A- condition when I took it out of the box. Everything was intact and seeming well assembled - however, there is a visible flaw on the neck at the joint on the underside of the fretboard - nothing that will affect playability. Also, the neck itself is unfinished - I knew this before I ordered it - but there was a slight rough patch that could have been sanded better. Two minutes with a piece of 100-grit sandpaper and the problem was solved.
The guitar has a nice tone for what it is. It reminded me somewhat of the tone you might get out of a knock-off Telecaster.
About the only con I can think of is that the guitar is a little on the heavy side - it's difficult for a little girl to handle. The guitar would probably be better served if they could have pared the overall weight down a little. But for what it is, this is probably the best overall value for the money.
I would definitely recommend this product for any little girl starting out for their first guitar - and I give the retailer two-thumbs up for sure.

Poor PackagingDec 22, 2008
By A. Kiesow This item shipped quickly and arrived on time. It was very poorly packaged. It came in a huge box, which was barely taped shut. the guitar itself was in a smaller box that has been ripped open and not taped shut again. The smaller box was damaged. The guitar was still OK, despite the lousy shipping. The graphics are different then the picture here. In fact, the bridge covers up the N and A in MONTANA. It says "Hannah Monta" on the guitar!!!!
