4Better than other eyelet setting tools I've tried, but...Dec 09, 2009
By E. A. Lovitt "starmoth"
Before I bought this product, I tried setting eyelets with a HomePro 2 Hand Eyelet Tool. However the eyelet setter kept sliding back into its base, which made the tool unusable. I next tried a hammer and punch, after first punching a hole in the card stock. This technique worked, although the eyelets tended to deform into peculiar shapes, and I whacked my thumb with the hammer a couple of times. The Crop-A-Dile II Big Bite Punch (CAD II BBP)is my third attempt to set eyelets, and it performs better than the first two methods.

However, the CAD II BBP is by no means perfect. The top and bottom cubes that rotate so you can punch the correct size of eyelet have a bit of wiggle room, so that the top and bottom points don't come precisely together. The tool can still set eyelets, but one side of the eyelet gets a bit more squashed down than the other side.

My favorite feature, and the reason I bought the CAD II BBP is its long reach. If I choose to, I can set eyelets in the middle of my greeting cards instead of having to limit myself to the edges of the cards. The HomePro 2 Hand Eyelet Tool (while it was still working) could only set eyelets at the edges of cards.

solid, durable machine.

great for punching.

okay for snaps, grommets, etc. tends to smash eyelets when setting. 85(

also, the feet tend to slide off. may want to glue.

5A great & useful toolDec 26, 2011
By SewingSam
I already own the smaller Crop-A-Dile tool, and I love it, so this was the logical next step for me. I am so glad I have this!

It can install grommets/rivets/eyelets (i will be trying it with snaps as well), and it punches holes VERY well. This tool has two sizes of hole punch, and the punches are specially shaped to be extra sharp - no more of those terrible half-holes. It says it can even punch through tin, which I haven't tried yet, but I'm certainly intrigued!

The base has a little bit of a grip, so it won't slide off the table during use, and the handle has a bit of grip too for your hands. It's clearly a very well manufactured tool, and I expect it to last a long time. Sometimes you just need a reliable tool, and this is the one.

4good productAug 23, 2011

Seller excelled, and delivered item as promised, in good/new condition.

I suspect those who say the Crop-a-Dile Big Bite doesn't work rams the handle home. Now, this product works well, but you have to play with it a little. If you slam the handle home, or aren't mindful of where you set the fastener, it'll distort/wreck/disfigure the fastener you're working with; easy does it.

I took a star off only because the main instructions come in French, with tiny instructions along the lower lining that don't really help much - but that's the manufacturer's issue, not the seller's.

If you want a Crop-a-Dile Big Bite, I strongly suggest going to YouTube and watching some of the good tutorials so that you understand how it works, and, more importantly, understand how the settings work. That's what I did, and after doing that, it was a piece of cake.

ARE YOU SERIOUS????
i have been pounding eyelets, grommits and punching holes with professional leather tools and punches for years. i stumbled on this tool by accident and bought it out of sheer exhaustion after seeing an advertisement where it punched through a cd. its absolutely amazing. seriously.. it punches holes in shoe weight leather like butter (i was using a drill) and sets my eyelets perfectly. i havent tried snaps yet but i just purchased a second hand held one and threw a couple of hundred dollars worth of tools in the junk drawer. it punches 1/8 and 3/16 holes, sets all sizes grommits eyelets and snaps and the expensive square eyelet setting die ive been drooling over and hoping to purchase is history. i am flabberghasted. AAAAAAA++++++
