Best Watercolors for ChildrenJun 11, 2009
By Katie My little cousin received this paints set for Christmas. It is now June and she still has a little paint left after creating a tornado of paintings. These Crayola paints are a bit pricey but the paint pots are deep unlike most, so the paints last a long time. The colors are very bright and show up wonderfully, we've not found any other set with brighter paints. It also comes with a natural hair paint brush which is really nice, and a lot better than plastic. It does not leave bristles behind like the plastic brushes do. If you have a little artist at home this paint set should provide hours of fun.

Vivid colors!Feb 08, 2010

These are the best watercolor paints that I have found for use with children. I taught kindergarten for several years and kids love watercolor painting. The colors in this set are bright and perfect for blending and creating a mood with color. The set is a little expensive but worth it for the extra colors and quality of paint. You may want to purchase a few extra small brushes to go with it.

Fun no matter how old you get.Jun 22, 2010

These are the first watercolors I've touched since I was in elementary school, but I've always enjoyed art and I've wanted to take up painting again. This, of course, is pretty much the cheapest way to do it without ending up with a product so inferior it's not even worth having. Of course better quality paints would be more expensive, and besides, it's my understanding that certain paint pigments (typically) contain toxic substances, so these are also (to my knowledge) safer, too.
I was concerned that the pans in these would be really shallow because there are so many colors (often you get more variety of something at the expense of quantity), but I think these were pretty good in that aspect. And if you mix the wet paint with water in another container, you'll get lighter colors, and they should last even longer.
The trays/packaging is REALLY cheap and flimsy, I don't see why anyone willing to buy this product would care. I certainly didn't.
In terms of color, I was also pleasantly surprised. (Elementary school is a bit far back to remember! lol) The color of these is very, very bold (when you let a little water sit on the paint). I wish I had some kind of palette I could put some of the paint on and dilute it.
The thing I always hated about painting was trying to mix colors. It's not that hard to get something like the color you want the first time... but the second time around you'll be very lucky to match it, unless you somehow manage to do exactly the same thing in mixing the colors. Having this many colors saves you a lot of that.
Over all, from the amount of paint I got, to the quality of color and so on, I would definitely buy these again! You're never too old to enjoy doing art, and in this stressful world, one needs to have some fun!
This set is hard to find in stores in my area, so getting them on Amazon is a must!

Amazon charging WAY too much! Great product.Mar 06, 2011
By J. Muth This is a great project for budding artists. Many colors to choose from and each little "pot" of paint lasts awhile. Easy to clean up.
HOWEVER: Amazon charging over $6 here is ridiculous. Michael's Crafts and Target both sell for around $3 (same exact product!).

Nice paints! Needs a better brush!Jan 05, 2012
By A. Smith This set of Crayola watercolors is a great way of introducing watercolor paints to children.
It comes with three (3) separate trays of eight (8) colors each. The colors are nice and bright and are also easy to blend with other colors. The paint pots are actually quite deep so it takes quite a bit of time to go through all 24 colors. Another positive is that the paint is washable making clean up a breeze.
The only thing I'd change is the brush it came with. While it is made of natural hair, the bristles themselves are just too little and not soft enough to carry the color. I'd recommend purchasing an additional set of natural hair brushes with different sizes/shapes (such as rounds and flats).
Overall this is a nice beginning set of watercolor paints for children.
