Very Sensitive to Floor ContoursFeb 04, 2006
By D. Metzger Both the reviewer who loved this scale and the one who said it was highly inconsistent are right.
I've had this scale for about two weeks and have done a lot of experimenting with it. Some days it seems to give me perfectly consistent readings, varying only by 0.2 pounds in either direction. Other days, I can weigh myself six times and get six different answers covering a range of about a pound.
What I've found is that the scale is extremely sensitive to the countour of the floor beneath it. Because it uses only a single load cell, located near the geometric center of the underside of the scale, it makes a huge difference whether the floor beneath it is perfectly flat or not. An uneven floor can cause tipping, put more of your weight on one side than on the other, or give a low reading if the load cell itself happens to fall into a small "valley" between higher ridges that could support the outer edges of the scale.
If you use the scale on a carpeted floor, all bets are off! A hard, flat, bare floor works the best.
By moving the scale around to different places in my bathroom, I was finally able to get reasonable and consistent readings. Finding that exact same spot again every morning isn't always easy, though.
It also makes a difference where you stand on the scale, especially if your floors (like mine) are old and "bumpy".
So, yes, the scale itself is as accurate as the manufacturer claims. But no, you might not get that kind of accuracy from it if you don't have a flat enough floor to use it on.

Great ValueFeb 03, 2005
By Ski_AEX This is a great portable scale. It is accurate to the half pound. It is easy to store thanks to its convenient handle, and doesn't seem to have any problem with being moved around, exposure to water, or dropped. I have had it for a while and it still measures just as accurately as when I opened the box. In addition this scale comes with a lifetime lithium battery. This is a nice feature so that you don't have to spend money on batteries. Overall a great value.

Great Value for the MoneySep 19, 2005
By Online Shopping Fanatic I'm a devoted Weight Watchers fan and attend the meetings every week. I've lost 50 pounds in a year and have about another 30 left to go. This scale is very accurate, and it matches my weight at Weight Watchers every week.
However, make sure you stand in the same spot everytime you weight yourself. You will get slightly different readings if you stand on the front, middle and back of the scale. Also, if you have multiple people using it, make sure to set it for the personalized sessions. In my house, my mom dad and also use it, and since we are all around the same weight the scale sometimes gets "confused" and we have to hit the reset key on it.
Overall we love the scale and would definetly recommend it.

Not goodFeb 02, 2006
By Nagender Parimi Within the first 5 minutes of using this scale, I realized that it wasn't good. My weight turned up between 105-112 lbs on my first few weighings (I weigh over 150). Maybe this was a defective piece, I did see other reviewers with positive feedback. However, am returning this one immediately and searching for a new one.

Consistent, accurate, and inexpensiveJul 12, 2006
By linuxlibrarian This simple scale is light, easy to carry and store.
I tested it thoroughly when it arrived against my older dial scale. It read the same weight, but actually with less flucuation when I shifted on it. I was careful to keep it on a flat surface... I had good luck on old hardwood floors, less luck on our old bumpy tile floors in the bathroom.
It was very consistent on a level surface... I tested it several times in a row with the same reading, and various times throughout the day... nothing read unusually.
I really like the form factor of this scale. It's so small... Not small spacewise, but just thin, light, with a nice solid place to plant your feet.
