Does it all, and looks great tooMay 06, 2011

I paid full price for it at Best Buy and I won't return it: it works just great. I bought it for my love of audiobooks on CD. The remote does everything you can think of. The unit allows you to quickly back up for several seconds and by chapter. The display shows everything. I don't own an IPod but I do own a Sansa player. The unit has an audio input and my Sansa plays perfectly via a small connector cable (The unit will play anything that has a headphone output. To use it I bought a 3.5mm to 3.5mm male/male connector on the internet.) And of course it has all the usual FM, AM, clock stuff. Two weaknesses: if you pause the CD for a long time, it will "forget" your last heard chapter. So you need to remember where on CD you left off. Also it's not an easy to live with wake-up clock radio because its use requires too many buttons to press (use your old clock radio). But it' a keeper for sure. Looks great, sounds great, can do absolutely everything, and takes up no real shelf space.

High Pitch HissMay 20, 2011
By Clint Martin The SC-HC30 has great reviews on Amazon, so I figured that I would pick up the new SC-HC35 at Sears for $150. The unit looks great and has great functionality with pretty good sound for such a small unit. The downfall is a very high pitch hissing sound that is always produced except when a cd is spinning. It is similar to the noise that a tube tv makes when it is on, but a little lower frequency and much, much louder. I will be returning it today and looking for something else...perhaps the SC-HC30.

Good ValueJun 11, 2011
By Lbell I wanted to update my old system to play my ipod but also wanted to have CD capability. $ wasn't an issue, but few systems had both features. Found the set-up somewhat simple and the only negative comment I can give is I have an older ipod and can only play music from playlists as this was indicated in the manual. Placed the unit in a large living/dining room area with cathedral ceilings. Can't believe the sound from this compact unit, it's amazing. Also the sliding door does concern me as I have read other reviews that this can malfunction. No regrets on this purchase so far.

Great replacement for an old-school boomboxDec 05, 2011

This is one of those modern shelf systems that has more bass than it should, given its thickness.
The front cover slides one way to expose the iPod dock, centered to cover them up, and the other way to expose the CD. It includes a loop antenna for AM, and a string antenna for FM. Also, a 1/8" mini phono input for other devices you may want to patch in.
It comes with brackets for wall mounting, where it won't take up any space at all on shelves and such. It also includes a base, for traditional shelf-top usage.
The sound is good, and it has some neat features, such as sleep timer.
Having an iPod dock opens this up to internet radio with an iPod Touch or iPhone and the app for the station you want to listen to, or even streaming from the web. Also included is a nice little IR remote, so you can control this from your bed or couch.
This is a nice product at a fair price. My wife is really happy with hers.

Nice little system!Oct 13, 2011
By Robin Lloyd I was looking for a small, budget-conscious bookshelf or tabletop radio/cd player, when I ran across the Panasonic SC-HC25 at Costco. Purchased it and loved it, except for one thing; not enough power for my taste. So, I returned it and was on the search again. I decided to purchase the higher wattage Panasonic SC-HC35. I really love this unit!
At first I made the mistake of comparing it to my previous component system, and of course there was no comparison. However, it provides me with good quality radio and cd playback and takes up very little space. This unit has different EQ and sound settings, so you can tweak the sound to some degree. Wish the volume went a little higher, but the unit and speakers are only so big. All in all, I think this unit offers quite a bit for it's small size and reasonable price. Don't own an IPOD, so I can't comment on that function.
I got a great deal on this through Amazon; free shipping and paid $40 less than retail stores near me. I will probably upgrade to a system with more power some day, but am very pleassd with this purchase.
