Its thick, narrow blade is distal tapered and flat ground to a zero edge. This creates a unique cross section that facilitates both penetration of the tip and cutting power previously unknown in such a thick, narrow blade. The integral handle of the spike compliments its minimalist theme. It has been carefully shaped out of solid steel, wrapped with cord and had all of its sharp edges "melted" so they don't irritate the hand. | | | Features: | |

Great Little BladeMay 08, 2010

Item arrived in 2 days, Fantastic! I'm a big fan of Cold Steel, and this item is no exception. Solidly built, wickedly sharp, this may become my everyday carry piece. Folding knives are by design not nearly as stout as this. THICK blade will not bend, handle is comfortably wrapped in "melted" para-cord, no rough spots! I may just get a few more "spikes" from this series!
8" overall, 4 inch blade, comes with neckchain and protective case.

Pleasantly SurprisedMar 05, 2012
By Rabbiddog So in my search for a decent boot knife I ordered this on a whim. I have never bought any CS knives before as I always thought they were overrated. I must say I was pleasantly surprised by this knife. It is very well made, a thick slender blade that is shaped from a single piece of metal. The wrapping on the handle is very nice without lending too much bulk to this slender blade. I should note though, that this is a 'spike' knife, so don't order this thinking it will be something that will fit in your hand ideally.
Even with the secure-ex sheath (another pleasant surprise as this is my first secure-ex sheath) this knife tucked into my sock and down into my boot nicely. I carried it this all weekend and barely even noticed it was there (but it was there if I ever needed it). Additionally I discovered that this blade is very well balanced. The balance point is nearly center, where the blade and handle meet (just a hair on the handle side on mine) which makes this knife also ideal for throwing. When the weather gets nicer I plan on taking my plywood target out back and see how this baby stacks up against some of my throwers.
In conclusion, I will say that I will be looking at some other Cold Steel knives, and if the quality remains consistent, this will not be my last Cold Steel knife I buy.

Great little hideaway daggerFeb 11, 2011
By xcalibur1000 I love the lines on this little knife and I love the zero grind. It is not terribly sharp as a slasher. It would be best used as a stabbing weapon. I carefully touched up the edge and it cuts much better. It has a great finish and the cord wrap is solid. Love cold steel!

I own several Cold Steel knives and this one is made well, sharpens easily, feels good in the hand, looks great, and is a perfect size for everyday carry. The description is a bit off. The actual size of the cutting edge is 3 3/4 inch and the overall length is 8 inches. It is one piece of solid steel, the blade is zero ground for a very sharp cutting edge, it's sharp right out of the box but I usually find I have to sharpen my new knives anyway to get them up to my standards. It comes with a plastic secure-ex sheath and lanyard. If you want to carry it vertically on your belt then you'll have to do a bit of rigging to the sheath unless your belt is very narrow. The sheath has no lock strip but regardless it holds the blade very securely. This particular knife is made for penetration not for slashing or throwing but it balanced and weighted enough to throw if you're skilled enough to do that.
Great knifeJan 29, 2012
By Jeff Great knife. Built tough, sharp, good looking. Could use a clip on sheath for carrying but in all one of my favorites. Would suggest this knife to others.
